SHADY BISCUIT Jockeyed by Terri Lane
The day was just starting and the weather was cooling off some just enough for horses to feel the nice calm breeze of the tracks. The Wire tracks were amazing as were Green Horse Fields and while many preferred GHF's courses a few here and there loved the Wire's. Chris Stevens was set for the day as he NBS' trainer Mason Connelly had Avengeable saddled and ready for his jockey Chris Stevens to take his mount. The black colt was certainly inspiring as well as he was inspired. He started out in the under card season and was slowly coming his way to the big races as he was certainly going noticed around the tracks. The son of Heartless Revenge had seemed to be growing and maturing quite well under Nature Blue colors. Chris took the reins and led the colt towards the track patting his upper neck to make him feel more relaxed. This work would however would not be a solo mission however.
Joining them was Terri Lane abroad the back of juvenile Shady Biscuit. The dark bay colt was the son of Mr. Hat and Clogs a sire to Quick Silver, winner of the Acorn Stakes, Shady Biscuit was out of Flashabelle a broodmare by News Flash out of Deabuelle. Orin came from spectacular lines and while this season was his time to grow and figure out who he is the colt was certainly one to shine in the very close future. The juvenile was a little more braud shouldered than his half brother but the two were the same height. Terri looked at Chris and smiled before placing her goggles over her eyes to not get dirt thrown in her eyes. "Alright you two take them out with a steady pace Avengeable is not gonna take it easy and we know this." Mason said before letting them go off onto the dirt track.
Chris knew Mason's motives for training and the colt was doing extremely well as a Grade Three he was moving up in the latter. Gee started slow from the start waking up his nerves breathing at a normal pace to work out his legs. Shady Biscuit was quick to his hooves a juvenile still needing a quick lesson of maturity. The colts looked beautiful as they galloped through the tracks dirt surface. Avengeable sought out his opening on the outside before drastically picking up momentum to get around the bay colt. Avengeable kept his pace sudden and kept pushing for a little more speed turning his head to glance at the other while Shady Biscuit kept his ears pinned and locked onto Gee's moves like a child in school learning to adapt. Orin soon came to nip at the black colt beside him as if to say back off to a pushy bully. Orin was a grade four as a juvenile and that was saying something, being a sibling to Quick Silver certainly had eyes on him.
The colts soon came to their nearing posts before Avengeable shot forward throwing the bay colt off guard. Chris slowed Gee to a trot speed as did Terri with Orin although Orion was very annoyed with the sudden halt he reared up once before bobbing his head to the understanding of commands. "Woah easy there boy this is just a workout not an actual race you crazy goof." Terri said calming the colt down by rubbing the sides of his neck. Avengeable stood there without a fuss as he enjoyed the company upon his back and not being bothered by his surroundings. Chris smiled before adding to the fire, "I think we should try for the HOTY races with Gee, as I think Orin should start as well. They both seem to be picking up experience why not start now?" Chris's mention made Mason shrug his shoulders with a nod to his head.
"I think they both should however Orin may still need some time to mature a little the colt clearly doesn't like to be boxed in. Terri how about next time we keep Orin on the outside see how he fits there. He runs a different road than Quick Silver I would like to see him use his full potential don't be afraid to show his true colors out there." Mason suggested before Terri nodded her head in agreement. They all soon headed back to the barns to rest up for their race days to come.
