It had been late in the year and Nature blues had been keeping it easy for awhile but they realized it was time to pick up the pace. Their juvenile string was long but they would meet ends meet no matter what. Two of the jockeys for nature blues were set to workout two of them that they felt needed a new boost into the tracks. Meredith Hently was taking out a Gamble on Peace filly, one with a bossy attitude and had to seem like the toughest filly out here while Chris took out a Knight Rousseau colt Pardon My French. Harley could be seen as a drama Queen mostly thawing out the Gamble on Peace personality that seemed to pass on as she was being saddled, the grey filly nipped at Meredith at every chance she could. "Harley stop being a butt and let me saddle you." Meredith said handing out a carrot to distract the filly for a short time.
Chris was more professional in the sense of working out with his horses walking Donny a bit before placing the saddle on his back was a better option for a colt such as Donny. Their were only two Knight Rousseau foals with Pardon My French Roussong was the other, who raced for Battle Brook Stables. The bay colt was still a maiden but he seemed to be understanding the tracks quite well. Once Chris got the colt exercised he placed the saddle on his back and was able to mount the colt without him thrashing him off. Donny bobbed his head with the weight on his back and dug his right front hoof into the ground but he was resisting the temperament for a nice good run.
Both horses glared at each other Donny throwing his head up to try to show he was boss while Harley kept her head as usual showing she was not affected by his charms of dominance. When the two started out the trainers watched from the sideline watching Pardon My French gain the lead from the strong closer Sophie's Harmony. The two would not run far but to at least get their legs moving and motivated to run. Harley may have been a sprinter but she kept up with the colt ahead of her pushing him at a speed where she caught up to him before the two parted. Harley only went certain furlongs to which Donny kept through with his stamina and distance. The bay colt seemed proud to have kept going but disappointed in the competition given to him.
Once the Knight Rousseau colt passed his mark Chris gave him a tug of the reins to pull back only for the colt to throw a nasty fit before he allowed the command of Chris to shoot through. Once Donny was in control by Chris he had walked the colt over to Harley and Meredith where Harley nipped and bit at the colt by any means. Donny could only return the favor with a bob of his head and a nip back. "Hopefully these two calm down during the race. Donny here I am sure will pull through next race I mean look at his lines. Harley will come around for you too Mere, she just beat her maiden race." Chris said to build up a conversation. Meredith smiled and patted Harley on the neck who shook her head and bit down on the bit in her mouth, "Harley needs the attitude out there. I know my girl is capable of doing more she is just saving the best for last. Donny will be the one to come around in the end he just needs to find that burst of speed to latch him for the win." Meredith said pulling Harley in the direction she wanted her to go.
Chris smiled before nodding in agreement. Pardon My French had a nasty attitude and everyone seemed to know it, Chris was well sure he would mature as he ages and he will keep fighting to get him to a great status. Chris urged Donny to follow the grey filly back to the stalls where they could get a good nights rest and some oats for breakfast in the morning. This workout seemed to open their eyes larger and gained them the necessary motivation to push forward.
