THREE YEAR OLDS
Barely Smokin’
The bay son of Barely A Moment had a solid first season on the track and looks amazing coming into Year Sixteen. Managing to rack up 4 solid HoTY races in year fifteen, Harley narrowly lost in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and put forth a solid effort. Carter gave him a two week break after the BC to let him mature, and you can really tell that the break did wonders. Harley’s well-muscled and toned and has been consistent in his workouts. Most recently, he pulled off a 5 furlong breeze in 1:02.00 and looked good doing it. “I know Talia is excited to take him on the Triple Crown path next season. You can tell he’s matured both physically and mentally, and definitely should not come off as a write-off next season.”
Dancing On Nails
While Dudley was a latecomer to the Firestone barn, he quickly made himself known in the turf sprinter undercard ranks last season. He missed out on the Breeder’s Cup, but he was still a gangly thing and Carter thought it would be best to save him for the next year. The chestnut colt is ready to make his way into the HoTY scene come Y16, and he’s ready to do it with style. He blasted through a 3 furlong workout in 36.10 over turf and impressed Carter with his running. “Dudley reminds me a lot of Red Herring - slow in his first year but will catch you when you least expect it. He’s been running well in workouts and is definitely a threat. He excites me, and I’m excited to see what he can do in the Turf Sprinter Crown.”
Fire Goddess
The small chestnut filly missed out on the Breeder’s Cup due to conflicting with stablemate Hellfire, but that doesn’t mean that she won’t be out for blood in the new year. At G3, Fancy only has two HoTY wins to her name, but proved consistent when it counted. She worked six furlongs in a speedy 1:13.40 and looked ready to hit the tracks. “I think I’m going to stick her to undercards in the first few months leading up to the Triple Tiara to build her confidence. Her race record doesn’t look too pretty, but I know she’s got the class and the parent’s lineage to pull through. I’m not too concerned about her doing poorly - because she’s not.”
Hellfire
What a filly this one is, full of surprises! Carter was not expecting the daughter of Catching Fire and Blood of the Angel to capture the prestigious Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies. Hellfire came, she raced, and she conquered the track during December Week 4. She was extremely consistent throughout the whole Y15 season and her record proved it. Flame has proven that her best distances are at the mile-10 furlongs, and that’s where she will stay come the new year. She worked a solid mile 1:40.80 but took it easy. “I’m planning to point her at the Red Mile series at The Wire…I feel like she is going to do extremely well there seeing as she was bred for the mile distances. Her distance range is all over the place, but with her record last season I think we are going to keep her at shorter distance.”
Innerstellar
The Y15 Encouragement Award winner is hot, hot, hot and has all cylinders firing for the new season. Now, trainer Carter Leeson doesn't want to spoil the colt's plans, but it is for sure that the dominant sprinter will be heading towards the Triple Sprinter Crown later on in the season. Tyler was another one of the Breeder's Cup victors for Firestone, winning the Juvenile Sprint in December, proving that he is a major threat come the TSC. He bulleted through a 3 furlong workout in 36.20 seconds, impressing Carter with the speed. "He's got a lot coming for him in the New Year, and we're aiming him for all of the top sprinting HoTY races. I don't think he will have a bad season, but I don't want to jinx it. This one is impressive, and he's one to watch out for no doubt."
Like A Lady
The speedy daughter of Sweeto Cheeto had a marvellous juvenile season which set her up perfectly for a turf triple crown attempt. It was pretty obvious where Lady was going after her juvenile win in the Breeders Cup, and Carter couldn't say no to the reporters as to where she was going next. Already putting up a solid attempt at Battlestone Downs, Lady is poised to pounce in her next challenge. "She's got a lot going for her, that's for sure. If you didn't know she was a filly, you would take one look at her and think 'colt'. That's what we like about her." Like A Lady rolled through a five furlong breeze in 1:02.02 and is ready to take the ropes in Y16.
Scintilla
Carter Leeson is determined to get Tilly out of her 3rd-itis slump, and that he will do! Scintilla is poised for a strong Y16 season, though no present races are planned for her debut. However, we have come to know that she will be hitting the Turf Triple Tiara while her female stablemate goes for the Crown. The daughter of Foolish Lad has been taking her time to develop. Though small, Scintilla has been looking mighty strong in her recent workouts, posting fast fractions that doesn't put Carter in a worrying position. "She's a strong filly who loves marathon distances, however, I find it hard to find strict 3 year old marathon races. Nonetheless, she is poised for a great season and we couldn't be happier with how she is progressing."

FOUR YEAR OLDS AND SENIORS
Coco Cabana
After another season of falling 4th in the Breeders Cup Marathon, Coco Cabana is looking for redemption in his final season on the track. The 5 year old son of Seattle Song will be working on grading up and gaining confidence back in an easy field in the Unicorn Horn. After the Horn, the bay stallion will be hitting undercards until he is ready to make his debut in the Y16 HoTY runnings. "He's a strong horse, and he's been looking good in his workouts. All we can do is hope he delivers the same work ethic in races and he should have a solid record this season." Coco has been working solid 6 and 7 furlong gallops in decent times and is ready to hit the tracks for his final season.
Dark Maiden
Small but mighty, the dirt sprinter hasn't had the most consistent season to date. Mai will be looking to hit the undercard sprinting races this season in hopes to gain confidence and build her grade up. She's been shooting off fast fractions in her workouts and looks to be really finally hitting her stride. "We hope her four year old season will be her best one. And if it isn't, she will be raced another year. We want to give her the best experience we can without crushing her confidence in the process. She's been looking good, and she should be one to watch. She's a sneaky girl, this one."
Devil's Blessing
Five year old Cian has been slowly but surely making his way into HoTY races last season and is looking to do the same in Y16. A rocket in the undercards, Cian will be looking to take control in his last season and dominate the track. The strong colt has been putting up nice times in his workouts and has been very consistent under jockey Talia Smith. "I have no definite plans for him this season, but I know he will preform in whatever race we stick him in. He's a strong stallion and his last season proved to be the most consistent. I think he's getting better with age, but we have decided this will be his last season so we can make room for the growing roster. He's definitely one to watch out for in the undercards."
Flashing The Declaration
A little like stablemate Dark Maiden, finding races for the 4 year old colt has been difficult, causing him to be relatively unknown and tossed aside. However, Carter thinks that this season Flasher will start making a name for himself. Once a Nature Blue horse, Flasher came to Firestone with only a few races under his belt but has quickly matured into a great horse. "His running has been consistent, which is great to see, and I really think he will blossom this season. He's one of the horses in our barn that is severely underrated and I am just going to warn others than he is not one to mess around with or take lightly!"
Ghost Rider
One of the loudest horses in the barn has been gearing up to make this season her best one yet. Already off to a great start in a HoTY race, Gia is ready to get the ball rolling with some more wins. She's been looking solid in her workouts and has been posting pretty decent times which Carter likes, so there is one thing the chestnut mare is doing right. "She's one of the most annoying horses I've ever had to deal with, other than Demi, but she's a hard worker once you get her past the post parade and gates. She's as stubborn as a mule, but if you really get her going, you've got a winner in her."
