Word on the street is that Firestone Racing owners Kiana and Ryan Reiner have given up the reins to a very well-deserving candidate. Head Trainer and most involved man, Carter Leeson, has been deemed official owner of Firestone Racing Inc. Mrs. Reiner had made the official statement on the Firestone Facebook page a few hours ago. What does this mean for Firestone Racing Inc? Well, Mr. Leeson will be in charge of everything and anything regarding Firestone Racing, not just training the horses. Owning a racing farm is a huge responsibility, and luckily Mr. Leeson has a good relationship with the Reiner's. According to their Facebook statement, the multi-million dollar couple will continue to pay property taxes on the Firestone Racing land in return for Carter's dedication, perseverance, and overall professional attitude about working with the disappearing owners.
"We were very fortunate to have found Mr. Leeson when we did. I've always wanted to start a racing business but never knew how to approach it. I'm not a racing person at all; it was just a little side hobby that I enjoyed watching. Carter has racing in his blood and I couldn't think of anyone more suited to the job than him. He knows the horses and the people all so well; it was meant to be." Mrs. Reiner had a few nice things to say about Mr. Leeson, and seemed quite content with her and her husband's decision to take over the farm. When questioned, Carter was grinning from ear to ear.
"I can't believe this is happening, honestly. It came to me as such a surprise...I couldn't ask for a better Christmas present. I'm absolutely honoured that Mr. and Mrs. Reiner thought of giving me the farm; I know how much it means to Kiana and I'm going to do my best and make it the best racing barn out there."
Check out the full statement here, and congratulate Mr. Leeson for his accomplishments. We look forward to what Firestone will be bringing to the racing season come Year Sixteen.
