KC Racing has desperately been trying to keep up with the more prestiged and popular stables that are competing in the industry such as Intreprid Stables, Witch Creek, SOPS, Nature Blue, and more. Compared to the others, KC Racing is new to the industry, but that hasn't stopped Kimberly Kenny, or Kim, from still trying her best to come out as the underdog amongst the other stables.

New Horses for Year Sixteen?
Kim has been looking for new horses to add to her string, coming a long way from owning just Maiden Dirt miler, Muggathugga. The stable is now equipped with over ten horses, with six horses in its main string and five lining up for the upcoming Prospect season. Kim recently participated in the warzone of the Year Sixteen Spring Mixed sale, acquiring quite a few well-bred horses to add to her solid arsenal. New additions for Y16 include the yearling Oh The Irony, a filly by G1 Stallion, Compeuppance and out of proven G1 producing mare, The Prize. This leads up to the most recent addition, Lousiana Blues, a delightful filly by Jazzaway making her a granddaughter to Point Away, a broodmare purchased by KCRS for roughly three million. These two yearling fillies will join Icarus Flight (Forbidden To Fly x Sizzling Dawn), Sweet Talker (Immortal Flight x Strictly Speaking) and Rising Wonder (The Rising x No Wonder) in their prospect seasons, and these are all spunky, yet level headed youngsters that are eager to get their hooves moving this year.
What's going on with the main string in Year Sixteen?
There's been a recent addition to the KC Racing's main racing string as of this year. Two year old Syvlanite will join Mardi Gras in the miler dual preferenced races, and hopefully this filly will take this older mare's example and run with it. "I was so happy to get my hands on Syvlanite, she's just a lovely filly, I love the way she holds herself. Don't let that dainty little face fool you, this filly means business as soon as you get her tacked up." Says Kimberly Kenny when asked about the new addition. Syvlanite comes to KC Racing with a 85% consistency, already having almost $80,000 under her belt as a young upstart. She'll be late in entering the races as she still needs to be assigned a jockey and go through a few workouts to get a real good feel of her, but she is projected to hit the races again mid to late January this year. This mare is a niece to the younger Oh The Irony through her sire and there are high hopes that by the way this filly runs her two year old season, it can be something to study in regards to how Oh The Irony runs her two year old season in Year Seventeen.
Optimus Prime by Optimus Unstoppable out of Point Away
Seperate Breeding Divison for KCRS opens
With the addition of four broodmares, foundation mares Oui Oui Merci, Tricky Cat, Forgettaboutit and dam of Jazzaway, Point Away there came the decision to transport the horses away from the main stable in order to ensure KCRS main focus is on racing its horses to the best of their ability. Bleu Star Farms is located in Versailles, KY, while KC Racing is located in Lexington. The only stud standing right now for the stable is This Means War, a G4 freshman stud with lines dating back to Raise A Native. Plans have already been put into motion to breed mares with Oui Oui Merci being paired with Foolish Lad, Point Away with Optimus Unstoppable, Forgettaboutit with Dreaming of Glory and lastly, Tricky Cat with Speed Rush. Look forward to news of these foals later in the year. Point Away has been the first dam to give us a foal this year, a bay colt we've decided to name Optimus Prime.
Mardi Gras and Escape Artist to race on different surface this year
Mardi Gras, G3 five year old mare has done exceptionally well on the dirt surface in the past year as a dual preferenced horse. She is strong willed, and has a large heart and she is by far the most mature horse in our racing division thus far. She's got a level head and not much spooks this mare, but she's got that energy to fuel her up when she needs it the most. KC Racing hopes for this mare to push her limits and get as close to G1 as possible, but even G2 would be acceptable as this mare has come a long way after being put to pasture for a couple of seasons last year before arriving at our stable.
She is to take the New Year Turf Stakes in January as well as the Unicorn Horn Classic. "You know, she's five years old and some people would have retired their horses to the breeding shed by now. But I love this mare, I really do. She's a giant, seventeen hands but she's just this lovable horse, you know? She wants to run and so long as her health allows it, I'll let her keep running and trying for the gold." Evidently, Mardi Gras is to return for the Spring Cup G3 Turf, a race that she won last year as G4 on dirt. "Mardi Gras isn't ready to head to the life of motherhood quite yet. Sorry boys." Kim joked as she planted a kiss right on the black mare's muzzle.
Now moving on to the matter regarding now three year old G5 dual preference colt, Escape Artist. "He's a wild card, that's for sure." Says Samson Cooper, the colt's jockey. This was a colt that was going to be retired to the breeding shed early, but Kimberly Kenny accepted the offer from Witch Creek to take him on. "He still wants to run." She had set of the young sprinter. He was assigned to new jockey, Samson Cooper and went through a handful of consistent workouts before he entered his first race with the stable, easily overtaking a field of higher ranking fillies in the End of Year Juvenile Turf Sprint. It was a massive upset that day due to the colt overpowering both of the fillies who were all contenders for the Breeder's Cup. It was due to this that the decision was made to run the colt on turf tracks in Year Sixteen. He has since been dubbed the Underdog of KC Racing as he is incredibly unpredictable in his races, and this is coming from the colt's very own jockey who explains that at times, the colt takes matters into his own hands and runs the race practically on his own.
