It was that time of year again where most of every racing stable had to train their juveniles for their full on big races. It was always a bit difficult juveniles were always the hardest given they were new blood to the tracks. Chris Stevens was happy to take on the challenge again and this time it was a horse he would think of a great challenge. Chris had approached the fine dark bay colt who glazed upon him with a bit of a nasty stare and his ears pinned, the colt's name was Pardon My French a fine colt sired by Knight Rousseau himself. Pardon My French was not a horse to pick a fight with he seemed to be against his own kind with his yells and bucks heard within the stall walls. The first workout of the day and Chris was slightly shaking in his bones to be riding a grandson of the strong minded Night Stalker.
Chris trotted Donny out who threw himself to the side to show his efforts of craving attention. Pardon My French flicked his tail at the calm Shady Biscuit with Terri Lane on his back. Shady Biscuit was not as extent as Donny but he had interesting lines to spare. Both colts trotted along their destination pushing at a faster pace Orin was not going to stand down. The son to Mr. Hat and Clogs had his own technique something fierce within his bones. Both horses held their heads high as their jockey's took them out with confidence and trust.
Donny took straight out to the lead with Orin following closely behind. Chris used his own methods different from his other jockeys and eased up on the reins to allow some slack with Donny. The dark bay colt took this as a free giveaway as he took off from Orin with a push from the strength from his hind legs. Orin took to his stablemate and snarled through his nostrils Orin was training for the mile he could hold the speed while Donny could hold the distance and he was pushing for it when he slowed down to allow Orin to pass him with an edge. Terri braced herself on the saddle letting off some of her weight onto his back to release the tension before awhile Pardon My French demanded the lead more and took it with pleasure.
Chris then set the brown colt loose the distance would be his glory giving into the temptation the colt sped up giving it more before passing the wire with Orin only four feet behind him. Juveniles were difficult at times and it seemed both colts played it out on good terms. "Good run. Donny and Orin should both do swell." Chris added before Terri smiled, "Not swell they will do great. Just have to choose the right races." Terri said taking a disappointed Orin to follow Chris and Pardon My French back to the stables.
