Civilized Reaction to Y16 Sale

It had been a bad idea to let Amber Black look at the sale catalog. Krystal Yhate eyed her boss nervously, chewing on her lip and wondering just what plans were spinning behind her best friend's bright green eyes. Amber had declared that she had a right to see the catalog in order to see who her horses could be racing against in the coming years. Nobody at SOPS was fooled by this front. Amber had taken in some extra horses as leases - Impress The Moonlight, Final Conquest, Tiger Heart and Justa Little Cutie to name them all. Yet Amber was most assuredly on the hunt for more.

Amber looked up, locking gazes with Krystal. I like more than a few of these. Krystal groaned in the back of her mind even as she nodded mock-solemnly.

LIKE ALL OF THESE HORSES ARE EYE CANDY. THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD HORSES. But here are the ones I am eyeing up:

Hip #2: Positively Precious x Indian Darling - I just REALLY like Indian Darling as a dam, and Ares has been performing well for me by this sire. I'm not saying I'm going to get this filly, but my gosh...what a PRETTY horse.

Hip #10: Sweet On You, Popcorn Blitz x Bed Of Roses - This seems like a really fast filly, and she's such a Henna Turath sprinter. Really nice unique damline through Bed Of Roses. I just like the looks of her. Do I need her? Absolutely not. But she's pretty.

Hip #14: Wild Tide, Impassioned Wind x Silver Tide - I am very nearly certain that I am trying for this horse. She would be a solid Canadian Triple Crown contender for me. I do not have the Impassioned Wind line in my barns and Silver Tide is a great broodmare. I like her attitude to boot.

Hip #20: Deathflash's Truth, Deathflash's Pride x Loose Truth - I like this pedigree and think this colt would be fast. Do I need him? Absolutely not. But he's a gorgeous horse and as a rising juvenile I have plenty of space for him in my roster. Am I certain that I'm going for him? Nope. But he's lovely.

Thoughts
If nobody picks up Divination [Hip #22], then something is wrong with the world XD This is a gorgeous horse. Same goes for the breedingstock here...I nearly died when I saw Cute Italian in the sale.

Holly Montgomery had been itching for a look at the sale catalog. She had been waiting to get her hands on some more horses to increase her stock. Mainly interested in breeding stock, she had her eye on a few of the younger racing prospects as well. She noticed the killer bloodlines some of these horses had. They would be wonderful additions to her barn. She wasn't interested in any of the foals, as they would clash with the ones she already had yet to be born. She went through and made a note of which ones she had interest in.

Hip #5: Could always use another yearling, with two already in her possession, Louisiana Blues wouldn't clash too much with them. The filly had grandsires Jazzman and Barely A Moment. What an honor it would be to carry those lines in her barn.

Hip #7: A Grade One broodmare with still a few years of foal popping left in her. The striking gray mare was one of her favorites and one of her top picks.

Hip #8: "He would make a great stud", Holly told herself as she admired Predator. He was tall and daunting. He would be a wonderful addition to her stud barn.

Hip #9: So he would clash with her yearling Predator. So what? Catching Fire as the sire was really catching Holly's eye. She didn't know if she would be interested in Samaritan Hero at first but with Catching Fire as his sire and Xalbadora as his dam. She had recently shown an interest in the colt.

Hip #20: Malibu Racing desperately needed more sprinters. Deathflash's Truth had been her top pick since the get go. He was absolutely positively stunning. She had to get her hands on him.

Hip 003: Statue of Liberty – Her yearling roster had a huge gap in the miler distances over the turf and this colt fit in perfectly with her plans. He was sired by Ruler’s Secret, a grade five stallion out of Passionate Ruler, who secretly was a favorite of Felicity’s. His dam, Lady Liberty, has only carried two foals, the other one which joined OVS’s roster in last year’s sale. Constitution was already showing tremendous promise as a weanling and was heavily considered as a three year old sprinter contender. Statue of Liberty greatly interested her and would be one she watched once the sale began.

Hip 004: All For Glory x Loose Truth – This colt was the other contender for the turf miler spot in the barn. He was from lines that Felicity had yet to get ahold of and ones that she wanted to have in her barn. All For Glory had sired two foals, both of which went on to be grade one winners. Loose Truth had four foals and all were on their way to the winners circle. This colt would be another one Felicity would be glued to once the sales started.

Hip 010: Sweet on You – From rumors passing around the barns, this filly was going to be a well-desired addition to most of the barns. Felicity was interested in adding another sprinter to her roster since she technically only had two sprinters. Popcorn Blitz was from rare and old lines that the trainer sought out in her own form of addiction. She was secretly hoping the filly would go unnoticed so she would have a chance of snatching her up for herself.

Hip 017: Top Admiral x Carmilla – This girl was going to be a toss-up if Felicity managed to get her hands on the weanling. She could pull off both miler and longer distances on both surfaces, something that would be a challenge for the trainer. She already had a magnitude of distance runners on both surfaces but yet something about the filly kept her watching.

Hip 020: Deathflash’s Truth – This colt definitely had her attention. He had very good lines through both his sire and dam and showed huge potential on both surfaces. She needed another sprinter in the barn and the colt would offset her filly’s well. Out of all of the horses she was watching for the sale, he definitely would be at the top of her list of ones to bid on.

Ripley Marsh nodded to Brooks from her seat on the couch. She had the catalog in hand and was pondering what she might be interested in from the sale. A quarter of the horses were coming from her barn alone so her options were more limited than other stables. "I don't know what we're going to pick up Brooks. We just filled our dirt sprinter slot with a homebred so I don't think any of the weanlings are coming home with us."

"No?" Brooks replied. He thumbed through the catalog himself, narrowing his eyes on a couple names. "Who are you looking at then?"

Hip 11: No doubt about it, this one would be a real project. Like Beyond Constellation, she comes from the Warm Wishes dam line and they're horses that get better as they get older. She's already three and I doubt she'd make the big races. She'd definitely be a Dirty Diana and Miss Josephine type, but we've had the best of luck from Akita Rose Stable lined horses. Out of the three, she's probably my top pick for the sale. I imagine I'm going to surprise a few people, but maybe not. Everyone knows I love a challenge.

Hip 13: Love this one. She'd be a great two year old addition for us, although she would clash with Apache Sunrise, Kismet and Shatter. What a group of fillies we would have if we added Coincidence's half-sister to our line up. I'm not convinced she's actually a dirt horse like she's listed as. Her dam is a turf winner and dam of graded stakes winner Girl Talk on the turf. She's one I'm keeping an eye on.

Hip 16: This filly is out of Tess and I really like her for some reason. She's elegant and her sire is from a proven male line. We have Flashpoint now from the same line and it would be interesting to snag her. We would be buying her back though and we already have eleven other yearlings. She's a want, not a necessity.



Hip 12: I have to contact Valkyrie's Sales Team about Testimonial Circumstances. We're going to scratch her from the sale because we already have her being bred in Year Sixteen to Sweeto Cheeto. She'll probably go up for sale in July next year.


Hip 22: If someone doesn't take her, I'm going to be annoyed. I don't have room for her, but I will make some if I have to. Her older half-brother, Eternally Smoldering, is training beyond expectations. Hell, I might even keep a Dazzling Dame foal some day.

Nick, Beth and Jaime sat around the kitchen table paging through the Y16 Mixed Sale Catalog. Nick hummed over the pages. "We have a lot up for grabs this year. This is going to limit our options." Jaime and Beth both nodded. "We've bred most of everything we need in our Y16 crop, but there are a few here I'd be willing to take on." Jaime commented as he made his own marks in the booklet.

Nick raised an eyebrow at the Irish man's comment and looked to his sister. She simply shrugged her shoulders and went back to studying her options before saying, "You think we'll be making a bid on anyone?" Nick sighed and sat back from the table. "Part of me is hesitant to bid on any with the amount we have in this sale. We may get over-run with horses not selling..." Beth nodded.

"So thinking optimistically, if they all sell, who would you be interested in...", she asked with interest.

He looked back at the catalog and smiled.

HIP #2 - There's something special about this filly. Part of it being that we know and raced the dam and are intrigued with how well the Positively Precious foals have been running. This foal is screaming classic dirt power.

HIP #4 - We have a turf miler hole in the crop and why wouldn't we want to get our hands on those All For Glory lines??

I would be willing to work out a split ownership on Divination and/or Black Thriller or something. I'm thinking of taking on the occasional horse to play with and then sell on...seems like the horses I sell on end up blossoming, and I'd love to continue the SOPS sale tradition XD

If anybody would like to split ownership on any of these horses aside from breedingstock, I'd be happy to help. I'm in a I-wanna-buy-horses mood.

Hip #7 Point Away
With only one broodmare taking residence in KC Racing Stable's breeding barn, Kimberly, the stable's owner is in desperate need of some diverse breeding stock come Y16. Especially since none of her currently racing horses will be retiring in Y16. Point Away has a superb breeding record causing her to be added to KCRS horses to watch for in the Y16 Mixed Sale.

Hip #10 Sweet On You
A nice dual sprinter yearling that'll be ready to run in Y17 as a two year old. Only dual sprinter at KCRS is that of the wild card colt, Escape Artist. Nice filly with solid bloodlines to enable her to keep up with other popularly bred futures racers of her generation.

Hip #17
Extradordinary filly for Y18. Has a long way to go before even being considered for races, but has well rounded bloodlines, and Top Admiral is one of Kimberly's choice sires.

Hip #22 - Nature blues is more than interested to have a Warlock filly within their stables they have a few relation to War Admiral in their barn but this fully is certainly on their must have list.
