SUMMER WORKOUT
April was approaching fast and that meant Summer was on its way. Meredith Hently was feeling a bit under the weather but she had taken some Tylenol to feel somewhat better. Approaching the stalls she could hear the whinnies and nasty screams coming from the paddocks as she knew one was coming from Rules of Passion, that mare was very impatient and Meredith felt lucky to not have to ride such a beast of a horse. Now, the other mare she knew very well a mare that caught the eyes of the crowd most recently and that was Reflected in Water who seemed to show her lines quite well with her showing off everytime she headed out on the tracks or her flirting with the boys in a mean and nasty way. The Grade one mare peeked her head out where Meredith greeted her with a gentle rub on her muzzle.
Terri soon followed to attend to Rula with some treats and a lead rope. Rula kicked the stall walls around her with a scream and rear before Terri entered with some simple tricks to get her attention. The brown mare was acting a bit different this morning but Terri took no matters to it as it seemed a normal behavior for Rules of Passion. Getting the saddle on her Terri walked Rula out to be approached by David Monroe on the back of the Cryin Out Loud colt Tears No More who was a G2 Sprinter with only a few more wins before reaching G1 himself. The three of them were ready as they all smiled at each other on the backs of the proud favorites while Rula towered them and nipped at both Remi and Trouble with no apologetic glare.
Trouble was just a feisty colt who liked to cause problems for everyone which was why he was nicknamed Trouble. The colt was the twin brother to Dry Your Tears whom was leased to Grayson Meadows for the whole Y15. Trouble was an accomplished G2 Sprinter and while taking a break from the mix the Cryin' Out Loud son would make a promising turnaround. David Monroe was settled as his jockey and the two had bonded quite well. When noticing the two approaching mares Trouble grew upset and pinned his ears to his head before nipping at them when they approached him.
While the start Trouble took to the lead with no problem although not rushing the issue his lead was only a few lengths from the the preceding Reflected in Water and the closer giant Rules of Passion. Trouble was one to tease while gaining the lead like the show off he was and David didn't care he shared a small bond with the stubborn colt and it was what Tears no More did best throughout the start of his run. Reflected in Water eyed forward her rival well nibbling the bit between her teeth and tongue keeping her pace steady while holding back Rula before gaining on the outside of the colt she disliked most dearly on the track. Rules of Passion was saving her energy although she knew she would need to pick up the pace here shortly.
Remi was a nasty preceder learning to dodge and maneuver over the years had her quite the expert and the Radiance daughter was proving well alongside other stable rivals like Supernatural and Battle Wings. She was quite slick when it came to the back stretch however, Rules of Passion took to a new gear and ran a faster pace the echoes of her hooves could be heard with the emptiness of the track until she was running in between Trouble and Remi pushing them apart until gaining away from them among the last turn to the homestretch. Rula was not taking a loss again and she would face fire before that happened.
Reflected in Water soon took away from Trouble to precede on the now lead Rules of Passion using the stamina she had been holding back to keep up with the dark bay monster while Trouble remained on their heels. The two mares collided among the homestretch before Rula finishing by a nose to Reflected in Water who then beat Trouble by a whisker. It didn't take long before Terri tried to calm Rula down before the brown mare reared and threw her jockey off her back for sheer joy to her own accord. "Terr!! David grab Rula! Hurry!" Meredith hollered before jogging Remi over to Terri and getting to her safety. David jumped off Trouble before handing the reins to Meredith taking off away from the track as he grabbed the loose reins and put his other hand out towards the mare's nostrils. "Let's not play games Rula, time to go back inside." David said as Rula thrusted her head up to pull David with her before settling to her own ways and trotting off the track with a walk as David was pulled with her.
