ADMIRAL'S LADY Jockeyed by Chris Stevens
Rula's workout for the War Admiral's Stakes
Mira's workout for the Fevrier Maiden
February Week One
Rules of Passion had felt refurbished after her little family reunion a few days ago with her hard witted stubborn relations she knew personally not to mess with. Her strong muscle structures and lean body were made for the sprinting division however her stacked height could have been a challenge. She was not a horse to under estimate and many seemed to know that. She was entered in the War Admiral Stakes against stablemate Noadiance, Nocturnal Runaway, and Whispering Melody. Rula had been taking a chance with the distance field but she had the heart of wisdom and the attitude of her mother within her. She would do marvelous in her race she was sure of it.
Admiral's Lady on the other hand was quite different just as tall as Rula but she was stubborn to the core. Chris Stevens had groomed her before taking her out although both him and Terri decided to go for a classic run outside the tracks to get them motivated enough for the race. Mira was entered in the Fevrier Maiden against Tell Me a Fable and Fire It Up. She had a tough two opponents but the filly was strongly confident that she could pretty much do anything or so she thought. Jabbing her head back and forth the two met with Terri and Rula along the forest trails that would lead them back to where they started if following the trails properly. They were horses who needed some time to feel freedom off the tracks why not run them here.
Rules of Passion took a glance at the tall juvenile and shook her off like an ant before taking a side step away from her. Mira hesitated with her stablemate trying to reach to bite her in every possible way before Mira was pushed to go forward. Rula galloped slowly behind the dark bay filly Terri glancing up at Chris with a smile. "I though we were doing this to get a good run not to work." Terri hollered pushing Rula to go faster to run beside Mira. Chris smirked to the occasion and he knew very well Mira would not play nicely and neither was Rula. "It is but come on this is a long trail why not make the best of it." Chris stated in return before both horses were side by side pacing each other's strides.
Rules of Passion stalked Mira not letting her gain an inch more than necessary. Mira locked eyes with her opponent although getting the idea from her jockey that this run was for a nice breeze she didn't like the equine company next to her. Both slowly slowed the horses pace to come to a sharp turn in the pathway trails and soon they came to a trotting canter. "Easy Mira it's alright halfway done." Chris said confiding Mira that she could trust his every move. Rula and Terri had been racing for quite some time and the two knew each other that Rula allowed Terri to ride her with such trust.
The longest trail came up and the two jockeys set them free again to a long paced run Rula grasping the lead with her long legs but Mira took another stride and kept her nose by Rula's stomach to let her get to much of a lead. The horses both had their ears forward before they decided to ignore each other and enjoying the fresh smell that was not from the racetracks. The ending of the trails came forth and Chris let all of his teachings go forthwith and Mira began to pick up speed however, Rula got the best of the advantage when she cut off the filly before the jockeys pulled the horses back to a walk before entering the track site again.
A refreshing run was simply good for the horses to get a good feel on being a horse instead of running in a large oval like circle almost every week. Both horses would go in better then they ever had and no matter the results they would keep their heads high and confidence up to get them ready for the next race.
