INTENDED RESULTS

He was feeling the pressure and there were no doubts about it, but he was relishing the challenge that was presented before him this season. He'd had another stellar season on the tracks and Jeff Saunders was on a mission to see that he added the title of BC Winner for both of his mounts. Abastor and Anodyne, Augusto relations and stunning racer performers had it in them to clench a win and he was going to do his damn hardest to ensure that it happened.
He gazed at the black stallion that towered over him. He was a sight to behold, with a wildfire in his eyes and a commanding air that let everyone in proximity know that he was the master of his own universe. Aba had always been a consistent performer. He'd lit up the cards in his juvenile season, remained consistent in his classic and now he was roaring up to a new threatening form in his third season. With the retirement of older horses, Y15 was looking to be quite promising for the black grandson of Augusto and Rosalind, son of Bucephalus. The afternoon sun shone brilliantly on the obsidian coat, a gleam and shine that came only with health and care. There was no doubting that Abastor was in form. Last year they had skipped on the Breeder's Cup, but this year they'd be a fool not to enter him. The BC Turf was calling out to them and it was time to upset the self-proclaimed queen. Everyone seemed to think that Bella Luna had it in the bag and they had good reasons to think so. She'd dominated on the turf, but that filly had yet to meet up against Aba. If there was a horse in the field that could make an upset, Jeff knew Abastor had the talent, power, prowess and experience to do just that.
The cameras clicked as reporters attempted to get their newspaper pictures of the BC Turf hopeful usurper as the black colt took it all in stride as he kept pace in an easy walk alongside Jeff. His ears pricked and eyes shining bright, it was easy to see that Aba was in his element as he beheld the track before him. Aba gave an excited snort and danced sideways slightly as Jeff brought the four year old back in hand. Nick watched in silent approval as Saunders got his leg-up into the saddle. There was another wave of buzz and clicking as Estella Marino led out Infinite Warcry and Nick had to admit that his two black stallions made a breathtaking scene. There was an almost frustrated and lethal glint to the five year old's eyes as Marino led her mount over to the track and Nick could understand his frustration. It seemed that at each turn the stallion had been blocked by Bella Luna, but now was the time to prove the nay-sayers wrong. He was no washed up athlete and in showed in his toned and powerful form. He was still the top male turfer in the business and Intrepid was determined to end the stallion's final season with a bang.
Nick waved for Marino to hurry and mount up which she did with a flourish and a grace and ease that was impressive. It couldn't be denied that Marino and Infini were an impressive pair and now it was time to put all that talent to good use. He waved her over to the rail where he waited as Jeff and Aba danced in place with eagerness. She flashed Jeff a winning smile as Infini stared down his familiar opponent. It wasn't this pair's first tango, but it never failed to be an intense and interesting workout when these two turf titans collided. "Okay you two, they both need to take the edge off. I want a mile and three. The first of the final hold them parallel. Marino you and Infini will be expected. He's got a lot of power and distance in him, so the sooner you start your final charge the better. This field is going to be fast paced, but the distance and field is slanted in his favor. Just the same I don't want you getting cocky and assuming a late command. We're going to take a final charge of the likes that people will be talking about for ages. Understood?" The lithe Italian woman's eyes glinted with the challenge, but she had more than enough faith and trust out in Infini. He could get the job done and she would guide him there.
"Saunders you will let In the Spotlight take the lead and you're gonna be freaking glue on Bella Luna. She's gonna charge at the end and so will Lookin' Back Lucky. In the Spotlight is a great front runner, but you and Aba stalk the life out of that grey mare and as soon as you see Bella winding up, beat her at her own game and fight them all off to the finish. SO for today's exercise you are Infini's glue. No one charges like Infini and it will be just the practice you two need to keep pace with Bella Luna."
Estella gave Jeff a competitive grin as she sent Infini galloping with one..two long strides. Nick waved Jeff off and it took a mere few seconds for them to close in on Infin's flank and then ease up parallel to their workout rival. The two worked in tandem side by side for the mile as the two dark horses began to feed off of one another, their energy and anticipation building up to a climax that couldn't arrive soon enough. Onlookers watched in appreciation as the two turf titans made the mile gallop look like the easiest thing in the world. It was easy to see that there was a lot of horse underneath each rider. Aba was contained fury and Infini was simply collected frustration waiting for his moment to strike. With their rippling form and powerful strides, it wasn't hard to see in this moment why they were each very serious and respective threats within their fields. They had no intentions of conceding the crown, in fact they had very intentional designs on victory and they would fight for it like none other. Armed with a plan, their fury and talent the final three furlongs approached with rapidity.
Abastor was glued to Infini's side and he showed no signs of weakening, a testimony of his talent to match the pace and still have more than enough to challenge. Infini gathered himself as the first furlong of the final three approached and it was a display that had Nick smiling in pride. Estella sent Infini going and he was only to comply. Jeff saw the gathering Infini and that was his cue. He released the black behemoth and he was on Infini with a vengeance. Dueling for home and neither willing to bend, it was too close to call as the two blacks wrapped up their final three in blur. Nick clicked his stop watch and had to be amazed. Three furlongs in :27.98 and that was after the mile gallop. It was fast times and just the right amount to leave the right kind of horse for race day. Jeff rated the writing black as he tossed his head looking, asking for more, but Jeff was able to contain the colt's eager passion for more. Estella had much of the same on her hands as the black stallion glared at his younger counterpart. There was no mistaking the intended results of this workout. They were armed with a plan and set in motion by talent and left hungry and desiring more. Nick smiled to both and waved them off the track to tend to their mounts. He almost felt bad for the competition come race day...almost.
