Chris Stevens and the rest of the jockeys for Nature Blues had a busy schedule coming up with the new juveniles and training for yearlings. Right now Chris was tending to breeze Livin' The Jazz the turf son to Jazzman. The stallion had moved from stable to stable which disabled him from making his glory but he was now home for a lifetime and he would race through his five year old season. He was a horse to be determined to win and he would not back down from the racetrack. The stallion would hit the Breeder's Cup Mile where he would face proud favorite Paranormal Hunter the filly was a Grade One turfer. Also among the field was Call of The Wild and Royal Cadenza. Livin The Jazz may have been out of place here but he was a horse to make a big comeback.
Manhattan Royalty was invited to the Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint, the grey son to Royal Red Richard was just as optimistic as his sire. He would be facing Cross My Heart, Demonic Desires, and Flying Colors all of which were strong competitors but David would focus Manny on battling Cross My Heart to the finish but would also focus on Demonic Desires to take the lead at the end. Both horses came into sight upon the practice track with David waving down Chris adjusting himself onto the saddle. Manny held himself strong next to Jax as the black stallion was ready to go but was held back by the commands of his jockey nipping at the young colt next to him.
After the ready the Jazzman son took off with the burst of speed that didn't even bother the grey colt. Manny snorted as he took off with a steady pace throwing his ears forward he gritted the bit between his teeth and listened carefully for David to make his commands. Jax began to fall behind making Manny push forward, Manhattan Royalty was a sprinter with the distance extension needed to go two more furlongs more then usual. He had the speed and agility to push the other horses in his field and he would do exactly that, Manny would tire out Cross My Heart and wait for the others to catch up before tricking their every desire for first place and using whatever bit of energy and speed he had left to take what belonged to him.
Livin' The Jazz was a fierce stallion and would hold his own with the Breeder's Cup Mile and come face to face with Paranormal Hunter with everything he had. Jax moved from the outside only at the last minute while during the back stretch he took in his strategies and made his calculations. He took his time before finally making his move along the final turn and using his legs to push off the ground and maneuver around the other horses and take the lead with honor in his eyes. Jax moved up to Manny's stride's the two horses looking each other in the eyes with fight in each other. Jax nipped at the colt next to him before pulling away from the colt among the home stretch and held his head high when Manny sped up with the final grip he had and the two both passed the wire at the same time with both jockey's shaking their heads.
Livin' The Jazz wanted this win and he would take it with everything he had as much so as Manhattan Royalty wanted his. They slowed their pace and Jax could only shake his long head towards his stablemate and nicker at him. Manny ignored the black stallion and headed back to his stall to rest for the big day his big day. Jax was carrying himself proudly and the race would be his.
