Terri Lane hadn't faced the Breeder's Cup and she would be taking Rules of Passion there. The last full sibling to Ruler's Secret and Passion Heart, this filly favored the dirt and took on the sprinters way of her choice. Rula was making a comeback and would show the world that she was just as feisty as her dam and older sister before her. She was entered in the Breeder's Cup Sprint against stablemate Tears No More, Loud and Clear, and Forbidden to Fly. While she may have been more show on the tracks this year Rula will definitely put on a show identical to her sire in looks she is all her dam. Terri would fight for her to reach the top of the ranks as a classic racer she had the knack to pull it off. She was facing a tough field and she would indeed be the stronger horse.
Unlike Rules of Passion, A Royal Legacy has been climbing and falling off the ladder the entire season and it was finally over and going to pay off. Roy had been retrained into a new running style and the stallion was a proud miler for his sire Merry Bay King. Roy was up against a very tough field among the rest such as Anodyne, Sweet Inferno, Limited Edition, and Coco Cabana. One thing was straight was that Roy would be aiming to snatch on a competition with the Canadian Triple Crown winner and push him to the limits. The brother to HoF Impressario would show his true colors in this race and he looked at his jockey with a proud gleam in his eyes. While he may act like royalty and seemed to show off his traits of it he was a stallion with all reason.
"Good morning to you Terri. I hope you and Rula there catch onto a splendid run with me a Roy here." David said only to get a snare from Terri as a sarcastic gesture. "The only thing Roy will be seeing is Rula's big hind splashing him in the face with dirt on the way to the winners circle." Terri teased back trotting the dark bay filly out on the tracks who pranced her way out to the track raising her head to the empty stands and got into position before A Royal Legacy took his place next to the filly like he knew exactly what he was doing. Terri understood Roy's mischievous ways and would offer Rules of Passion as a contest to motivate the troubled stallion. David patted Roy on his neck grasping that the colt was ready before the filly led to start the move.
Immediately however Roy took off straight into the lead as apart of his new training he would head straight to the front of the pack before slowly pulling back into the mid-pack to find his target and strike him down. He pushed forward with David holding strong to the reins but without knowledge Rula began to stalk the movement of Roy watching his every move falling behind waiting for the right moment. She paced the stallion on the outside moving on the inner side to take a good glance at the eyes of the mature Royal Legacy. Rula was a deadly predator onto the track moving from Maiden to Grade Four within a few months she was definitely going in for the kill. Breaking her maiden at the June Maiden Dirt she soon followed to win her second race with the Seaspray Cup Grade Five Sprint to which put her name on the watch out list.
The dark bay filly to Passionate Ruler was going to pull through and fight for her win and perhaps make a meaningful name to herself. The filly was full of speed as a sprinter she was quite the mean one. Terri turned her loose within the last turn to get the breeze she needed. After keeping to the back for the longest time, Rula finally switched her gears and bolted off to give off a new speed pacing right past Roy who was now at full speed to beat the young filly. Rula gave in at the last second to use the stallion's keen movements to agile right passed him through the wire just by a nose. Roy had not seen so happy with the surprising end game and simply turned his head to ignore the humans in front of him as if he were pouting. The Breeder's Cup was a chance for Roy to make up his name.
Terri had been quite pleased with Rula's workout and felt that it was an amazing turn around. Terri walked the filly off the tracks and slid off the saddle, walking around to face her she placed a kiss on the filly's muzzle and smiled when Rula through her ears forward with the motion and snorted just glancing at the track. "I think you are gonna knock the socks off those boys." Terri stated watching David with an upset look on top of Roy. "Don't give me that look Terri I am sure Roy is saving his energy for the race. Just wait he will turn heads." David said heading back to the trailer to let Roy relax for the big race ahead of him as would Terri and Rula.
