The final leg of the triple tiara was just around the corner and with her win of the Mother Goose Stakes Reflected in Water would try again in the longest leg of the last leg of the Triple Tiara. Meredith Hently would ride her again after a couple of weeks rest she would re-enter again to face once again Battle Wings and a new entrant from Intrepid Racing, Restricted Access. The filly would be ready. Grabbing a brush, Meredith brushed it on her side as the filly whinnied towards the motion. Grabbing the reins, she pulled herself onto the back of Remi and began walking to the track. Not soon after, Terri Lane soon approached on the back of the legend True Enough.
"Mind if we join you?" Terri said when True bobbed his head towards the familiar filly. "Wanted to work True's legs out a little." Terri said looking at Meredith who had nodded her head with a smile. What perfect horse to workout with Remi to prep for the Tiara than a stallion with a proud name. Remi avoided the stallion prancing onto the dirt track with the lifting of her head. Remi was a feisty filly proven by her dam's genes. True was a very short stallion only to stand a little smaller than Remi but that meant pure speed. Reflected in Water was a sprinter/miler.
The two started out into a trot far from apart however, when the two took off into a gallop True Enough immediately took off into the lead as an old habit of his. Luckily for True, Remi was a preceder she would keep up the challenge. True Enough took on the middle of the track romping through the dirt surface while Reflected in Water was on the stallions right side on his hind quarters keeping her pace steady for now trying to find the weak spots to his motives. Along the back stretch True slowed his pace and Remi pushed to be on his side at last. "Alright Remi, we can push through this let's give this old man a run." Meredith said with a teasing tone in her voice.
The last turn approached and Reflected in Water felt the sudden need to take off from her fast moving grandfather. She would use his own flirting tactics against him while she glanced him in the eyes to get a better look. True's ears swung back as he did the very same. The two were neck and neck but Remi began to push off at an even faster pace. The homestretch was finally here and both stallion and filly were neck and neck to fight for the finish. Reflected in Water and True Enough passed the wire with Remi a nose short from True. They slowed down and both jockeys were laughing. "That was amazing." Meredith spoke praising Remi for her hard work.
"It was True still has it but I think its time for him to rest." Terri said walking True back to the stables with Meredith and Remi to follow in return. The filly was ready and Battle Wings would be her rival with this race and while her flirting worked for the colts this was a race full of fillies. She would use her mother's fiery passion to manipulate passed her rivals. Only then will they know.
