Just a few more days to say the least until two major races would be run and two of Nature Blues horses would be entered in them. The Summer Dawn Treader was coming up and David Monroe would be riding Merry Bay King son A Royal Legacy into the race with much appreciation. The stallion was a dual surfaced distance runner and Nature Blues was lucky to come across such a horse in the auctions just a few weeks ago. Roy would be facing a high competition this race like horses such as his niece Italian Ice whom won the Canadian Triple Crown, stablemate GS SuperCharged, Mastermind, Red Herring, Nightshade, and Lusitania's Soldier. The field was rather large and the competition would be fierce.
Joining him today was 3 year old filly Reflected in Water who was entered in the Mother Goose Stakes the second leg of the Triple Tiara. She had placed second in the Acorn Stakes and would be entering in the second leg against Wishing for Heroine, Supernatural, Battle Wings, and Maliah. The filly was a prize giving the Radiance lines a good look. She would be ridden by her favorite jockey Meredith Hently. She ran on dirt surfaces and moved up to the miling distances. Both jockey's had their horses ready for the go. Roy was a bossy little stallion and his workout companion was just as feisty.
"So David me and Remi will be breaking off early but she will definitely try to keep up with Roy there." Meredith stated as she patted Remi on the neck approaching the practice tracks of the wire. Roy held his head high and snorted at the younger filly next to him. Remi reared up not allowing him to show any rulership over her. Roy was a closer liked to come from the back of the pack and Remi was a preceder. The jockey's brought them forward to a low canter staying clear of the railing. Roy began to push off from Remi's preceding manner and began to find his stride to make it count. Reflected in Water began to precede the strides of Roy and kept her final strides at bay.
The backstretch was remotely long and a little muddy but the horses threw the mud from the hooves behind them Remi moving alongside Roy with much determination. Roy began to pick up the stamina trailing away from Remi as David glanced over his shoulder for a second and hollered, "See ya later Meredith!" David then set Roy loose among the track as he bolted away from the filly. Reflected in Water kept her pace astray until near the end where she galloped faster into a run where she finally gave it all of her will and power to use her tremendous sprinting technique and gave it full throttle.
The last stretch came by and Roy had passed the wire with Remi a few lengths back. Roy most definitely had the advantage here and when Remi came to a stop and snorted to the stallion prancing in front of his sight pounding at the ground as she wanted. Roy shook his head in disbelief. "Woah there Roy that's how Remi is you'll get used to her." David said calming down the stallion with ease. Meredith only smirked and took Remi in first so she wouldn't rattle Royal up anymore then he already was. Now they would wait until the final race day where now both horses were wired up and anxious.
