REFLECTED IN WATER Jockeyed by Meredith Hently
March Workout
Horseshoes were tapping the concrete floors when Meredith Hently took her fierce bay 3 year old filly out of her stalls. Reflected in Water was the top filly running for Nature Blues and she certainly showed promise. The whinny from the filly meant she knew where she was going and what Meredith was up to. "You certainly surprise me girl. You ready to run today?" Meredith said placing the saddle over the filly. It was the middle of the day where Meredith knew Remi would be awake and not lazy within her stall and flirting with the colts. The bay filly would be trying our for both the Tiara and the Sprint Triple Crown these coming months.
Meredith seemed to show a liking for the Radiance babies as she would also be riding Remi's little sister The Apathy. She was a strong filly and like her dam she was moody and stubborn to the core. She pranced ever so lightly out on the dirt tracks and kept her head held high. "Take it easy girl this is just a warm up." Meredith then tightened the reins in her hands as the filly bit into the bit waiting for a command from her rider. With distance extensions she ran distances of 6 to 12 furlongs she could exceed farther then usual and Meredith wouldn't stress the filly in lengths but how she would run with this workout.
She would be entering the Dirt Triple Crown and if not that she would be taking on the Dirt Sprint Triple Tiara and she had proven to be dominant over the dirt tracks. Meredith kicked the filly into a trot and she moved just as she was told. Remi then decided to move her strides to a gallop and took over her own self. Remi shared a bond with Meredith and while she enjoyed having the human on her back she knew what she could take and what she couldn't. The time was now to get all worked up for the major races and Reflected in Water would be ready to take on the fair experienced horses. With her showing in the Unicorn Horn Dirt Sprint, she was placing top for the money.
She pulled into the backstretch picking up speed as she pulled away from the rail pushing her strides farther and farther apart. With her extensions Remi had been working on her stamina and it was clearly working for her. Meredith looked ahead and looked back to see no one around. "Alright Remi let's get going." She said kicking the filly again gently to move into the last turn where Reflected in Water moved her strides farther apart and moved with incredible speed that the dirt could be seen being thrown behind the filly from her pounding hooves. Ears perked forward when she spotted the finish line, Remi whinnied pulling her frame at an even faster pace her muscles stretching per length.
"There it is girl. Come on!" Meredith said keeping the confidence up for her friend. She pushed herself more to get to the finish line and when Reflected in Water passed the Wire the filly slowed herself down to a trot once again. Meredith rubbed the fillies neck and smiled towards the run. "What a run. Your a very good sprinter Remi." Meredith said walking the filly off the track to get out of the way in case of other runners. The Radiance daughter was shining this season and she was still just as feisty as when the day started. Walking Remi off the track, Meredith slid off of the horse like a knife over butter and then took the sweaty saddle off the filly.
Brushing her down Meredith turned on some music not to loud so she could have fun while bathing the filly. Taking the hose she began to clean the legs of the bay horse until she was spick and span again. She then grabbed the bucket of oats and grabbed a hand full of them and fed them to Remi. "Excellent work today girl. Its time to run your race and I know you will give them your best." Meredith said then walked the filly back to the stables. She was a proud filly and Meredith would love to see what this filly would do in a race such as the Triple Crown and Tiara series. She would win this race Meredith would help her get there.
