The time has come once again! Spring is in the air and so is the buzz about foals that have hit the ground. Well things aren't vastly different around the Intrepid Broodmare barn. The stork has landed and IR is boasting of having only six foals on the ground and each is healthy and roaring and rearing to go. This year Admirable, Silver Tide, Alluring Assault, Fashionista, Sophie Might and Wildly Natural all birthed healthy foals for Intrepid and they're willing to give us a bit of a closer look.
The first mare to deliver her foal was naturally Fashionista. This grade two sprinter mare has to be first in everything and that includes first in birthing. She was in foal to Hall of Famer Flying Colours from Star Thoroughbreds and upon delivery gave Intrepid a bold colt. Now almost a month old, you can see his grey coat starting to come in. We have high hopes for this royally bred turf sprinter. If he's anything like his parents, Captain as he's been nicknamed, will be a fierce force in the sprints. The crew has decided that this steel grey colt is to be named Flying Fashion.Flying Fashion
Admirable soon followed in her much anticipated birthing of the last Night Stalker baby. Needless to say there was a lot of buzz when Addie went into labor. The birthing process was efficeint and quick and soon we had us a black colt. The colt was born healthy and Addie made a quick recovery. The two were shortly seen a few days after the fact running around in their paddock and boy were they flying! The colt has been named Night Visions and will be gunning for the Y16 Triple Crown.Night Visions
On loan to Intrepid this year from SOPS, was Hall of Famer mare Wildly Natural. She gave birth to a dream that Intrepid has been planning for a while. The resulting foal was a handsome bay colt sired by none other than Hall of Famer Merry Bay King. This colt was bred for the turf and looks to already have quite a commanding presence about him. The staff calls him King because of his royal attitude, but has officially been named Natural Selection.
He will be making a bid for the Turf Triple Crown in Y16.Natural Selection
An unplanned, but still welcomed breeding came into being at the last minute. Silver Tide, son of show champion stallion GS Ultimate Challenge and dam of raging success Akuma Battlecry gave birth to the most beautiful dark bay filly. Aptly named Quick Silver, Dana as she's called by the crew is an active spitfire with a sweet-tooth for treats and affection. She certainly keeps her dam on her feet. Sired by the well-bred Mr. Hat and Clogs from Witch Creek, this bay wonderball will be attempting the Triple Tiara come Y16.Quick Silver
Right into retirement, Alluring Assault is proving to be one of the best broodmare on site at Intrepid. There were no complications with the birth and she immediately took to motherhood. She have birth to a chestnut colt sired by Worldbreaker. The little rascal is healthy and all legs and is settling in just fine with the other foals and mares. He's officially been named World Dominion, but we just simply call him Drake. He's definitely the curious one in the group and looks to have the makings of a great turfer like his sire and dam before him.World Dominion
Last, but certainly not least was Sophie Might from Star Thoroughbreds. This mare gave birth to a stunning grey little filly. Sired by freshman sire Deathflash's Pride, Sophie's Pride, as she was named looks to be the cutie in the group. She's going to be another sprinter for Intrepid and can run on both surfaces. The potential for this little gal is limitless and we're more than excited for this filly.Sophie's Pride
