JAZZAWAY Ridden by Lawrence Kaine
SEPTEMBER WORKOUT
[/blockquote]Having the son of Jazzman was a bit amazing. The colt resembled his sire except for his full blaze on his forehead. The colt was to race in September and this would be the first workout for Bowen Acres. Lawrence Kaine was assigned to the colt. Jazzaway was waiting for his jockey and when the man came to the stall the colt greeted him but, being a very stubborn colt he saw the saddle and reared up not wanting to go at first. But, the colt then settled down allowing for the moment Lawrence to put the saddle on his back.
Grabbing the lead rope and clicked it onto his halter Jazzaway stood still for about a few minutes before following the human. "Come on Jazz you need this workout buddy listen to me for once please." Lawrence said getting the colt to budge and headed for the tracks. Yes, there were press to worry about not as much as their would be on race day. They were flashing their camera's at the Jazzman's son. Lawrence hopped up upon the colt's back who seemed to just stand there not wanting to move.
Jazzaway had a big schedule ahead of him. He was racing in two races this month the Didactic Stakes and the Brobdignagian Stakes. The one race that had Lawrence worried about was the Didactic Stakes. It turned out that Livin' the Jazz was also entering the race, another son to Jazzman that was also Grade 5. But, both were wonderful competitors and only the results would tell. Lawrence had to learn of the colt's very well built personality and he had to let the colt do his own thing on the tracks.
Jazzaway was his own colt and loved to run wire to wire so as approaching the tracks Lawrence grabbed a hold of the reins and urged the colt forward but, he shook his head and went into an immediate trot allowing the press to take pictures of him as if he was showing off his talent. Stretching out his legs Jazzaway then with all of his strength took off immediately galloping around the first turn and then to the back stretch. It had appeared Bowen Acres came across another colt just as stubborn as GS Super Charged but, with completely different lines.
Jazzaway felt the weight on his back as he was in full speed on the back stretch and he took the weight as an advantage to push himself further to gain on his opponent. He was a stubborn horse, so Lawrence's words or movements on the colt were no use. Coming along the last turn the colt gained his top speed pushing further to head straight for the wire. After the colt did what he wanted he came to a slow trot once again raising his head. Lawrence still remained on the back of the colt as he patted the colt's neck to praise him.
"Ah Jazz what are we going to do with you. You got speed I'll give you that." He said then looked at the press and shook his head. Urging the colt off the tracks Jazzaway took a minute and went into a circle before walking off the tracks like he owned them. The two races he was entered in were coming up and as dual surfaced horse he was ready for anything. This black colt would make his sire proud as well as Bowen Acres.
