Bowen Acres decided to retire their Grey Mare Declarate early after racing in the Comet Cup. Her handler Nina Delgracy noticed her breathing wasn't normal during her last workout. The mare seemed tired out and Terri her Jockey states, "It's sad that we have to retire her early but, we don't want her to push to hard while trying to race against younger horses." It is very sad to see a great racehorse retire but, the mare will start her broodmare career in hopes to produced champions in the future.
Declarate will retire as a Grade 5 with an incredible history and after showing in many of her races she finally won after so many years. She is a dirt mare and will probably be suitable for dirt stallions as well.
