[Livin' the Jazz] & Kyle Landing - Prep for Nacelle Stakes
The black colt was usually simply high spirited and zingy, but for the month of rest that Jax had been on, he'd been in a dark cloud. He was moody and nippy and frankly Kyle was done with this version of the colt. He wanted the fun energy ball back, but his consistent second placing was rubbing the determination of the colt the wrong way.
It was as if the second place haunted and taunted the black colt, while first place loomed ahead....so close and yet so far away...
Kyle popped the colt as he tried to take a nip out of his arm. The already pushy colt was extra pushy and his temper was sour. Kyle kind of felt bad for the colt. in every big race this colt had entered he'd been denied and a determined colt like Jax could only take so much. The field upcoming didn't seem as tough as previous races, certainly not as fierce as the Magic Millions had been on GHF, but they still needed to bring their A-game to this match.
It was going to be a slower race with no clear front runner. The whole field, minus Jax was composed of Mid-packers and mid-packer/stalker. Nick had also pointed out that GS Royal Crown was making his debut with Witch Creek in this race. He would be one to watch out for and would most likely be leading this race.
The pace would be slower than normal and Kyle would have to make sure the colt would pay attention, but usually his competitive side ensured his alertness. Kyle let the colt out into a canter as they cruised about the turf, breezing the colt lightly. He wasn't going to let the colt out, but was simply rather hoping to ease out some of his temper in their canter.
Blazing Kiss was a Magic Millions Turf Sprint winner and was another horse to be on the watch for. The key come race day would be to start moving up earlier and close before they got blocked in the back, but the good thing about this upcoming race....they'd have a lot of speed and stamina and room in the back to ensure they'd be a present challenge...
Yes, the haunting may very well end this week and Kyle was hoping so as the black colt nearly ripped his arms out of his socket...he didn't know how much more he could take of this surly Jax.
