Kyle led the bay yearling filly out onto the track. He kept the lead line pretty slack, the bay filly would have followed him without it generally, but when they got to the tracks it was a whole different story.
The Rosalind daughter had done very well this year in the prospect races, but Kyle simply wanted to work with the filly a bit more. They were out to win this one! This was the last race of the Bagrre Prospect and if they could pull off a win here...they'd tie for first place! This was a BIG DEAL.
Prick [Acantha] slowly came more and more out of her inner shell as they drew closer to the tracks. She heard the horses and her senses became fully aroused. Her action was more extended as she fairly trotted next to Kyle. He simply smiled at the bay. His favorite times with this filly had always been on the track, it was like she became fully alive.
Not an overly affectionate horse, Kyle loved it when he saw the spark of fire sizzle within her depths. Yes, Prick was a rce horse through and through.
Horses whizzed by as Kyle and Prick graced the turf. She quickly zeroed in on the "competition" and began her study. Kyle made sure to keep a tight hold. When Acantha got in the zone, there was little that could snap her out of it.
Easy girl, just a jog today...you and me. They kept to the outside as horse and man began jogging down the turf. She quickly grew frustrated with the two-legged's pace and displayed it with a toss of her head, but quickly settled back into their rhythm. All the wile she watched every horse that passed and Kyle knew she was already thinking of ways to defeat her foes.
He smiled and couldn't help, but be proud of his Prick. Yes....there was big plans in store for this gal...big plans indeed and they were laying the foundation now.
