BETH HARVEY AND ALESANA
ALICE'S TRIAL WORKOUT
A filly previously owned by Silhouette Stables was now with us, in the hands of Jacey and Beth. Beth was extremely excited to meet the filly off the trailer and as she would be riding her, everything was new and interesting to her. The large lorry pulled up into the yard, and Beth stood, nervous, but then again excited. A man stepped out. He was handsome, tall, around six foot five. Clean shave, neat hair, and in his early twenties. Beth smiled. Hi, She said, watching as Jacey walked towards her. So Beth, you're about to meet Alice. She smiled and nodded. The man had a quick word with Jacey, and they lowered the ramp, revealing the seventeen hand and one inch specimen of a racehorse. She was beautiful.
Beth watched as she stepped down the ramp, and she approached and stroked her. What can you tell me about her, Mr... um... She said, questioning his name. Just call me Zac, he winked. Well, Alice, is a filly who is quite hot-headed. She can be aggressive, but not overly. She usually gets aggressive when she gets annoyed, which is relatively rare in her case. Beth nodded and continued to listen. Though she is a challenge to work with, she is the kind of filly who won't go down without an absolute fight. Once you've earnt Alice's respect, you've got it forever. Jacey smiled. Sounds like a good filly to us. We like a challenge. He smiled and nodded in her response. Though hot-headed, she will do anything and listen to her jockey. Nothing scares the filly though, and she can get very playful. She can be goofy and appear a bit bossy, but she loves to mess around at times.
Beth laughed, stroking the fillies nose. She pricked her ears and nuzzled at her pocket. Jacey asked Zac, Where in the field does she race? Zac smiled and responded. She is a closer. Alice gates well, but needs a little bit of encouragement. Her starts are slow, and she tends to linger at the back of the pack throughout the races. She will begin to move up towards the final three furlongs, coming wide down the centre of the track putting her best foot forward and flying effortlessly from last to first. Beth smiled. Just perfect.
