Everyone said the Prison Hill crew was weird. Moses couldn't say he blamed them. Their owner was almost unknown, their two trainers consisted of a man rarely sober or clean and a double-amputee, once one of GHF's best jockeys. Nevermind the jockeys themselves. His older brother had a crazy low weight, and Moses knew full well why. Erin was six feet tall, not to mention reckless with a scarred wrist, and then...then there was him.
He was the normal one, the journalist, a jockey with no huge achievements but not quite a failure, and a supposed penchant for stalking Amber Black. He did admire Amber Black quite a bit. She was one of his heroes, and that was no small thing. He talked about her quite a bit, watched her races, and admired her. But he wasn't in love with her! No, he just found her an amazing jockey, but not in love. Not that way. Besides, she was twice his age. That was a little much. Furthermore, he was standing at the edge of the track, having given a first date a backstage look into the racing world. No secrets divulged, but a little insight. Maybe there was something in this one. Maybe.
"Maybe this will become a second date?" The brunette standing beside him said. Moses nodded, with a smile. "I think that could be arranged." He looked up at the green eyed date, and then, all of a sudden, he found himself being pulled close, and he was being kissed. He had to stand on tiptoes, being only 5'1", but he was well and truly used to that. A blush rose on his cheeks as the kiss got a little more passionate, but Moses returned it.
As suddenly as the kiss started, though, it stopped, and he opened his eyes to find his date looking terrified. "I-I should go. Maybe...maybe this shouldn't happen. No, it won't. Goodbye." Moses was about to protest to that - it was only the early evening, but his date was already fleeing. Was he THAT, bad of a kisser? C'mon now! He wasn't that bad. Moses held back tears as he turned around, and then they suddenly fell as his eyes widened.
There, having seen him basically making out, was Amber Black, his idol. "Please don't tell anyone!" He said, looking pale, teary and scared.
You might think this was no big deal. People kissed all the time, and Henna Truath - a coworker of Amber's - was a notorious flirt. The catch here was that his date had been a man.
