[/size]The day was long and Terri thought it would be good to bring out both Passion Heart and Spirit out on the track together to see how the two would race against each other. Of course, Chris was Spirit's jockey. Terri hopped up onto Passy while Chris did the same onto Spirit. Terri bonded with Passion Heart more because well she was her horse and Terri was her Jockey. She looked at her friend and smiled. "Well it seems we have a predicament?" She said rubbing Passy's upper neck gently while looking at her race companion. Chris looked back with smirk on his face while looking upon the race track.
"Yes we are Ms. Lane. I bet my 2 bucks that Spirit hear can take on you Passion Heart." the male jockey said with competition in his heart. The two horses ran the same furlongs and accomplished the same reign the only difference was that it was colt versus filly in this situation. Fillies could beat out colts it was once proven that Ruffian would have beaten Foolish Pleasure if she would not have broken down in the middle of the race unfortunately, this was just a workout. Passion just showed in the Y12 Lochness Maiden in March Week four while Spirit got 4th Y12 Kraken Maiden. The two had entered into races and got somewhat good results.
Terri reached over to Chris and gently pushed him while steering Passion to the gate to get ready but, it was rather difficult because the filly hated the gate and it took a few tries until the filly entered the metal cage. Chris followed behind her Spirit's head high and ready entered the gate nice and smoothly. There was loud noise in the gate next to Spirit because it was Passion throwing a little hissy fit. The timer was off and the two jockeys held on tight while the horses sped off forward. Both horses started front but, it was Passion who led on the outside keeping her gallop at bay as she continued to push herself forward.
As for Spirit well, Chris looked forward at the terrain and knew the colt was gonna hold back staying in the middle as the filly he was racing against was ahead of him by a nose. The colt was breezing but he then matched the pace of Passion's to get to know her stride and he remained that way the next few furlongs on the track. Terri wanted Passion to be better in the next race and she would work on her other horses later in the week. She was certain this was going to be a pretty good workout because it was already.
Spirit started to take the lead with just 3 lengths and Chris looked at Terri just a little with a wide smile. The colt would fight to stay in this position but the filly was right on his tail during the long stretch. It was the last few lengths Passion pushed herself winning by a nose to the colt. "Well, I'll give it to ya your colt is good." Terri said slowing down the filly to come to a stop. Chris turned the colt around Spirit's breathing was heavy but normal after that long run. "Uh huh I let you win plus this is practice not the actual race." He said turning the colt towards the stables and Terri was so fortunate to do the same although she got off the fillies back.
Terri walked around to the front of Passy and rubbed her nose gently pulling her towards the stables. "You know that's so not right. Well at least Passy here got 3rd so no comment there." She said before putting Passion Heart back into the stables.
