Wild Vengeance
Featuring: Wild Daisy & Vengeance
Nick had no idea what in the world he was thinking or how the hell he pulled it off, but somehow he'd gotten two of last year's top juveniles into his barn. The two fillies were the same side of a coin with dark coats and what looked like dark intentions and you'd have been right. The time off from the tracks this season hadn't helped in the slightest with the fillies' dispositions.
Nick was leaning towards the more serious train of thought as he tried to meander his way through the light crowds without being recognized. The crew was in somber spirits after World Dominion's consecutive loss after high hopes for the Turf Crown. There were whispers that the Alluring Assault colt was a flash in the pan, a one season wonder and that has some questioning the colt's legitimacy now in the remaining turf crown legs. Nick refused to respond or answer to the goading comments. He knew what he had in the brilliant chestnut and he didn't need words to convey that. He'd rather let the colt speak for himself on race day. Time would win out and Nick was a patient man, but Duke maybe not so much. He was extremely fresh and frustrated and so Nick had scheduled an at-home workout, short and sweet, but something to keep the ever active colt from tearing apart his stall and driving his barn mates insane.
He was loathe to be missing the colts workout, but he trusted Jaime to make sure that Angie didn't let the colt overdo it. Usually, juveniles and three year old were under the Irish man's jurisdiction, but since he was at their home track overseeing the colt, that left Nick to get the two newest pain his asses settled. He grumped about the two hell-hound fillies when they had first stampeded off the trailer. Those two fillies knew the moment they stepped off that they were back into the racing world and they thrummed with anticipation on top of their natural aggression. Bottom-line: they were ticking timebombs and needed to get on the track asap.
He made it over to the clocker's and nodded briefly to them, but his eyes were or focused on one high-stepping black filly and a bowed dark bay as they made their way from the back barns to the track. Michael Sat astride the bay Vengeance as he smirked over at Ariel who was having her own hard time keeping the beautiful Wild Daisy in hand. There were murmurs from the rail as people began to recognize the two ghosts. Nick couldn't help, but feel a sense of pride when people began to recount the fillies and their accomplishments. It was good to know that people still remembered them. Nick waited on the rail for the two to approach as horses made their way over and others breezed over the turf.
Daisy was right in her element. You could tell she was primed and excited to be back in her element. She continually gave Vengeance the stank eye, but Ariel had the black she-demon on a tight leash. Vengeance was more in tune than Daisy at the moment having a few one-ups on her counterpart. Nick had taken possession of the Admiral's daughter sooner than Daisy. Daisy was simmering with untapped energy, this being her first official workout since her hiatus with Star Thoroughbreds. Sarah Star and her crew had done a decent job maintaining the filly's form, but there was a noted difference already between Ven and Daisy and that was only with a few races under her belt. Ven was hardened and Daisy was sleek promise.
"Ariel I want you to let Daisy let off this extra steam, but I don't want her running the show. Keep her in hand for a four furlong gallop. Michael have Vengeance keep pace. I don't want either winded."
