In The Balance
It's been a balancing act for Malibu Racing so far. It's still early in the season, so it's really hard to tell how things are going to pan out with their horses. Most of the horses are fairly new and still have alot of improving and maturing to do. We recently sat down with Holly Montgomery to ask her about each one of her racing roster.
Pulled In A Win
There's no doubt MRS has flourished with two winners. These two horses are going to be the base of the racing roster for this new stable. We asked Holly about these two champions in the making.
Celestia: "I acquired this filly through a create sale. Her record really stuck out at me and I knew I just had to have her. She has pulled in one win so far and I'm sure there will be more to follow. She is an incredibly strong filly. I am definitely looking forward to see what's in store for her."
Ground Zero: "This colt has some impressive lines. He hasn't been out of the money for me since I've been racing him. I am very happy to have him in my barn. I plan on racing him on another season or two and he will stand his first year at stud in Year 19. I plan on racing him to his full potential. I'm quite sure he will finish first in the black and gold silks plenty more times this year."
On The Rise
There is one horse who truly stands out as one who is on the rise for this barn. We asked Holly about this mega filly.
Catastrophic: Holly grins big. "She's awesome, isn't she?" Huge sigh. "I am thrilled that this filly has been running so well. She carries some old lines through her veins. With each race she seems to get stronger and stronger. I can't wait to see how she carries on her juvenile season. Her classic season next year is gonna be epic. She is certainly one horse the other stables are going to have to look out for. She's gonna give them a run for their money."
Keep Watch
We would've categorized these specific horses into the on the rise, but Holly is unsure of how they will fair for the rest of the season.
Road Hog: "I'm not real sure about this colt just yet. He is maturing nicely into a true sprinter. He basically will run the way he wants to. Sometimes he will break fast and really try to contend with the other horses. Then, there are times hes wants to be a lazy bum"...laughs..."and lay low and in style. He is a strong colt. He is certainly one to watch."
Regal Rose: "I LOVE this filly. She may not seem like much, but she has been a consistent runner. She is an incredible sprinter. She absolutely loves that turf. Definitely be on the watch for her. She is going to become a flawless champion. I just know it."
Palisades Pirate: "Pie is an incredible stallion. He makes me very happy. He hadn't been racing for a long while so I have been very surprised with how he's been running. He just needs to get back into the swing of things. I wouldn't count him out, yet. He will be standing stud next year. So, if you are interested in the Shiver Me Timbers and Palisades Silver lines, holler at me."
Needs Improvement
As with every stable, MRS does have a few horses who need some improvement on the track.
Call of Duty: "I see him as a Triple Crown runner next year. This colt just needs to mature some more than he will bloom into a strong racehorse. Just give him some time. He's still young and has alot of improving to do.
Shuttershock: "I don't know much about this colt. He is a flashy mover. He draws a crowd when he's out on the track. Again, he is still young and he hasn't had much track time. He just needs a little improvement and I do see him flourishing.
Beyond The Stars: "This mare really has a bunch of passion bottled up inside her. She didn't race at all her 3 year old season. She hasn't had much track time for her age. Her time will come. She just has to get back on her feet.
The Leasees
MRS has acquired two leased horses this year. One was bred by Holly with the help of Lacee. She had good things to say about these two fillies.
Crooked Intentions: "This filly has become strong under the hands of Isabelle. I am honored to be able to race her this season. I really need to try to get her into races she will be comfortable with instead of just throwing her into races thinking she will be ready for them. She is a highly talented filly who needs the opportunity to spread her wings. She will get there. She just needs to get on her feet."
Superb Curiosity: "I still haven't figured this girl out. She just needs more track time. I feel she will improve and become highly successful as she gets into more races that she's comfortable with. I know she will start winning in no time. She is highly talented. I know she has the winning spirit in her. Will just have to wait till she's ready to let it shine."
So, you have it folks. Be on the watch out for all of these horses. Malibu Racing will certainly be a strong contender as the season progresses.
