Problem In Paradise?
Witch Creek Stable has a problem that we didn't see coming. The best juveniles for Witch Creek appear to be two regally bred horses. But neither of them is a foal out of El Sol Del Mar. A daughter of GS Ultimate Challenge and a son of Like A Cheetah have stolen the spotlight quite effectively. Add in a little dose of the versatile sire Positively Precious and we see a different version of Witch Creek than we're used to. Or is it really different?
The stable has turned a rapid corner from its old dirt ways and seems to be specializing in horses that perhaps get both turf and dirt. Few can contend that Witch Creek horses seem to be the most versatile of late. And with Witch Creek's astonishing success rate in all things turf... perhaps it is not a surprise that the stable is struggling to connect with their pure dirt runners. That is if you're not Saintly Touch Sun King, or Flashpoint.
Think of the best runners of late: Frozen Motion, Paranormal Hunter, Cross My Heart, Bella Luna, Whipped Cream, Dirty Diana... The only name missing off this list is Mastermind... And guess what: the stellar horse once won a leg of the Turf Sprinter Crown.
Rumor has it that Ripley Marsh is considering doing the unthinkable. She is possibly going to sell Uno Momento, the last son of El Sol Del Mar. Everyone knows there will be a feeding frenzy to get to this colt, especially with the final El Sol Del Mar filly belonging to Intrepid Racing Stable.
But this is just a rumor heard through the grape vine. Perhaps the true dirt horse doesn't fit anymore. Ripley Marsh will be weighing all of the pros and cons. Could she make Witch Creek work for the son of Barely A Moment and El Sol Del Mar? Or will she constantly be comparing the horse to his legendary siblings and thinking what if?
All I know is this: most people are wishing they were in Ripley Marsh's shoes. And plenty will be awaiting news from Ripley Marsh herself on this topic.
