February Week One
Imitation's Love would be hitting the tracks again on February week one. She would go out better this time after two frustrating starts and she would peer stronger hopefully this time around. The dark bay overo filly was demanding this morning nipping at Carlos everytime he tried to touch her. When he finally got around to placing the saddle on her he had distracted her with a small bucket of oats. She was the first foal from both parents, Imitation Black and Katerina's Love stubborn, fierce and full of attitude. Which was quite the opposite of her stablemate Secret's Surprise who she was working with today. The chestnut mare was of an unknown line and she was of pure turf racing.
Ursa was a more experienced mare than Lovely was and she was more of a competitive racer then a calmed one. Terri Lane sat quietly on her back waiting for Carlos to approach them. Ursa found immature horses to be annoying but she wouldn't let them get to her. The expectation Running Stakes would see her full potential. Lovely approached them with a stubborn gait and trotted before stopping with Ursa's company. "Seems like Lovely is more so controlling you then you are of her." Terri said patting Ursa's neck who was waiting patiently. Lovely was facing a small field with stablemate Firefall and Awestruck. Awestruck had the eyes out the Touch Up filly really had good lines despite her relations Lovely was in a touch notch.
The horses appeared to be struggling in the same eye contact and Terri moved Ursa along to start with the lead but Lovely managed to stay with her along the start. Slow and steady was Ursa's main point but Imitation's Love took another approach depending on the speed of the race Lovely would start to think of her motives to pass the other horses in this case a three horse field would mean for her to wait til the other tire before striking down her opponents she would just have to watch Awestruck's stalking technique to mover her forward. Ursa began to pick up speed again forcing Lovely to fall back a length behind her.
Ursa would not grow to become a mare to take pity on the young juveniles in fact she would teach them tough decisions no matter the race or the situations. Ursa was a calm and sweet mare but on the track she used her competitive streak to fight with others and take down her competition.
