Rio has been sitting on a win for some time now. She easily won this by five lengths over these two year olds.

Betram F. Bongard Stakes - 8.5F - 2yo - Fillies - G5+

3rd - Honorary

Afternoon folks, it was a grand day for the Betram Bongard Stakes (I left out the F because who DOESN'T want to hear that name said out loud? And besides the F ruins it) and our three entrants couldn't have looked better. Honorary certainly seemed to be enjoying herself, those ears pricked high and that tongue lolling around, it's hard not to enjoy her presence. Barely A Sound was cool and collected as ever, looking stunning as ever, and Nirvana gave everyone the impression that they were simultaneously being x-rayed and smiled at. It was a no fuss start, Honorary and Barely A Sound exploding forth in sync, I sure hope somebody got a picture while Nirvana took her own sweet time as per usual.

By the first run under the wire Honorary was well in the lead by two lengths, Barely A Sound hanging out not far behind, and Nirvana still...taking her sweet time. Around the five-eights pole Barely A Sound closed the door on her and took the lead by a head, and the two of them duked it out for most of the backstretch, and I honestly could not tell who was in the lead, with Nirvana still chillin' like a villain three lengths back. It was the homestretch where things got interesting. Barely A Sound made a bold move and stole the lead from Honorary, by the two eighths pole she had two lengths on her, and Nirvana quite literally slipped by both of them on the inside and took the lead. By the time they got to the wire, Nirvana had a healthy three length lead, and Barely A Sound holding her position in second. Honorary certainly had something to say about that, as she made a late charge and closed the gap, but was eeked out of second by a head.

In the end, each of these fine ladies ran a great race, though I think Nirvana's experience at this particular distance really gave her an edge. Barely A Sound and Honorary both had the speed and the skills, but Barely A Sound had a few extra runs under her belt which gave her that head edge on Honorary. Still though, it was a nail biting finish for those two, and I expect great things from them in the future. That's all, folks!

Siren Call was forced to the lead by Mastermind who stalked her relentlessly the first half of the race. Tears of Blood hung in the back. Siren tired and lost speed, Tears of Blood closed and past her but couldn't overtake Mastermind who also sped up after Siren Call dropped back and won by two lengths.

So I had this great write up but then my computer decided to be a piece of crap so it deleted it. YAY! Anyways I've lost my steam on this one, but Great Revenge took it by about a length, while David and Goliath duked it out three lengths behind the leaders, with Goliath breathing down little David's neck in the end, getting eeked out by a head. All these guys ran great races, and in the end it was Great Revenge's experience at this particular distance that snagged him the win, but Saintly Touch still has yet to finish out of the money. Palisades Pirate and Ultimate Revenge were eeked out based on experience, and Palisades Pirate had a few extra miles and one extra win under his belt, which is why he slipped ahead of Ultimate Revenge in the end.

Big finish here Daddy's Overdraft just came out of nowhere here. Fleet Majesty started out great but Hourglass would not allow the filly to pass her. Overdraft took advantage of the fighting fillies and won it by a few lengths.
