The beautiful black filly had stepped of the trailer no less than twenty four hours before making her decent out onto the turf track. She flickered her ears back and forth and she gazed around the surroundings of her new home. It would be a new start for her - and with a new nickname too, she was ready to take on the track. When at Bowen Acres, now known as Nature Blue Stables, Passion Heart was known as Passion, or Passy. But Jacey decided to go for a more elegant nickname for the filly. She soon became known as Sian - and with the new arrival, came a new jockey. Erin Taylor was a small brown haired pretty and feminine girl - she stood at roughly five foot tall and Jacey had hired her especially for the older horses. She was nineteen years old, and really showed potential.
Passion Heart had been entered in an eight furlong contest over the turf at the moment. She was up against rising three year old colt, Handsome Tabby, who looked like he was a professional - he was a very good colt who had three wins and three places to his name, but despite the fact Sian had raced against bigger and better horses, she wasn't going to let this chance to get another win under her belt pass her by, and neither was Jacey, or Erin for that. Erin was a very determined and strong rider - she wasn't heavy handed though, or heavy in her seat. She was just, perfect. Staring over the turf track, the jockey was mounted up onto Sian. Erin slotted her feet in the irons and took hold of the reins.
Sian pricked her ears and Erin squeezed her sides and they bounced into an energetic walk. The filly chomped on her snaffle and whinnied before snorting and bouncing into a trot. Erin rised with the fillies bouncy trot as they headed round the bend towards the mile pole. At the mile pole, she broke into a long and low lope, it was perfect. The filly was really nice to ride, and you could hardly feel her moving underneath you. As Erin stood in her irons, it felt as if she was gliding. Erin smiled and went with her, before shaking the reins and letting her run.
Rounding the far bend, she crouched down and let the filly run. She extended her stride and bobbed her head, ears pricked as she practically glided down the home stretch of the soft turf. The filly loved it, and so did Erin. Coming under the wire, she pulled Sian up and patted her dry warm neck. "Well done sweetheart." She walked her over to Jacey and dismounted. "Erin, that was amazing." Blushing, Erin smiled. "Would you like to come and ride for us?" Erin nodded with excitement. "I'm so proud of you, Sian." She walked Sian back into the yard, then she heard footsteps behind her. "One last thing, I have entered Sian in an eight furlong race over turf next Saturday if your up for it." Erin nodded, grinning from ear to ear.
