WITCH CREEK TO HOLD DISPERSAL SALE
Witch Creek is not one to sell horses, but when they do, you best be on the look out. After Van Guard, Flawed Princess, and Wish Upon A Star were all placed in new homes recently, Witch Creek is following up with an even bigger sale at The Wire. Actually, it is practically an auction. For those of you hoping that Ripley Marsh would sell out her top three year olds you better keep holding your breath. What she will be offering is quality in a variety of ways. Ten horses have been marked for auction, they include current racers: Flashpoint, half-brother to G1 Fiery Touch and Hawk Cup winner Paranormal Hunter, Indian Darling, grade three runner and half-sister to G1 winner Fire Dancer, Fly By Darkness, grade four winner of the Cashcall Futurity, Mourning Passion, a stunning colt with multiple grade one winners for siblings.
Plenty of unraced horses have been included in this sale as well: Towering Tempest, son of Like A Cheetah and relative of Frozen Motion, Sweet Mimosa, spectacularly bred filly out of G1 winner Screaming Mimi, Ares, a fiery son of Positively Precious and Candid Silver, Refute and Summer Romance, half-siblings to G1 winning mare Wild Kiss and out of G1 winning mares Finale Slew and Ashanti, respectively.
The main reason for this vast downsizing was given to Ripley Marsh's interest in becoming more of a breeding and small racing stable than a major competitor in all races. Witch Creek is expected to still be highly competitive in next season's older horse division with the likes of Y13 Turf Triple Crown winner Bella Luna, Grade One winner Cross My Heart, Highway and Speedway Stakes winner Mastermind and the rest of that currently talented three year old roster. This dispersal comes after Ripley Marsh expressed an interest in holding a couple races next year over their hilly turf course. Perhaps, Miss Marsh has greater things in mind for Witch Creek Stable.
