Ignite and Matt
The duo made there way on the the track. The three year old colt's coat was gleaming, his ears slightly pinned back as he listened to the sounds around him. He was just now getting back into the grove of working out, getting back into shape for racing. Ignite was the star of the stable. He was destiny to go somewhere, do something. It was just a matter of time everyone would know his name... At the moment no one knows about him, or the little stable he raced for. Just a minute boy... We have to wait for the others.Coast To Coast and Josh
Hey NOW! The little man on top the fiery chestnut roared. The colt pinned his ears back, and buckled as if he were about to buck, ready to get the little man off his back. He wasn't in the mood for games, and neither was Josh, his jockey. Cody had just gotten use to chilling in a paddock and being lazy, and now all this work wasn't working for him. He was enjoying his quiet time, and eating all the green grass there was. But now they stable was back in business and it was time to get back into race mood. You filthy beast. Behave Josh mumbled has he pulled the reins sharply, kicking him in his side to move on.
Matt chuckled at the site of the chestnut colt and Josh coming towards them. Having a hard time, bud? He called out. Matt shielded his ears from the sun, looking for the three person. Then he caught sight of the young black filly, and her rider making their way towards them.Whispering Melody and Kaylin
Thats a girl... Kaylin said has she urged the filly further. Wendy was one of the lucky ones. She had been worked regularly, even when no one else was getting worked. She was fitted for a two year old, and was ready to get out there and kick some butt. The black filly was out of Ebony Gold Lady, by Seattle Song. They neared the group and came to a hault a few feet away.
Okay boys... Kaylin said, looking at them Lets do a nice little race. Matt, keep Ignite up front, Josh you stay back some and push them. Lets see where this guys. Remember... Be gently. Don't push them too hard. You know your horse's limit. She nodded at the boys, and they both nodded back. Warm up your horses. We will start at the half way make, and race eight furlongs. She said. On that note, they all went off at their own pace, warming up the horses.
Once they were ready, they went to the start, and as soon as they were all there Matt counted off. 3, 2, 1 And off they went. Ignite sped off at a face pace, galloping next to the rail. Cody, the chestnut colt, was right on his tail and about a furlong behind him was Wendy, the younger filly. After a few furlongs, Cody gained way on Ignite and they were battling it out for the lead. The colts were going faster and faster, and the young filly kept up. Wendy slowly inched her way closer and closer to them. Kaylin smiled as they neared the end, and Cody seemed to have died back, slowing down. That or Wendy and her were getting faster. Soon the black filly was neck and neck with Ignite, the Grade four three year old colt. Matt glanced at her, eyes a bit wide as he pushed the colt faster. Ignite's ears flicked towards them, hearing another horse next to them. Wendy's ears pinned back and she pushed herself faster, not giving up without a fight. Easy Kaylin whispered, knowing the filly was still young, she didn't want to injury her this early in her career. The duo battled for another furlong, Wendy inching herself past the older horse. The crossed the finish line, Wendy a head in the lead, then Ignite, and Coast to Coast about a half furlong behind.
They all slowed their horses down, cooled them off. How in the hell did you pull that all Kay? Matt said as he walked up towards the blonde. Kaylin shrugged, and patted the black filly below her. Luck I guess...
