KING'S RANSOM ridden by Lawrence Kaine
AUGUST WORKOUT Y13

Lawrence had felt bad for not getting to King's workout for nearly a year. The colt was in his small prime and figured it would be time to run him again. King's Ransom had been sick for awhile and needed a long time's rest. The buckskin dun seemed to be better and so Lawrence would take it easy today to see how he would run. The colt was a miler at 8-11 Furlongs on Dirt tracks. Lawrence walked the colt slowly onto the track to let him feel the dirt on his hooves once again.
King's Ransom was a beautiful golden colt and the only one in the stables like him. The colt moved with his head high and close to his neck as he pranced slightly to the start. The colt started off with a nice trot moving with a nice posture. As Lawrence noticed the colt moving swell on the track he grabbed the reins tightly and slightly waved the whip to only make wind passed his hind to get him to speed up and King did just that. He bolted from the trot and came to a full gallop.
King had not ran like this six months when he raced back in February. The colt was stretching his legs but, this workout would be needed since he was to race this week. The colt preceded to find his stride and he then passed the mid half of the back stretch and bolted again to feel the rush of adrenaline run through him. Lawrence as short as he was was lowered at the back to the horses back neck and looked out to see where they were going.
The 3 year old knew what he was doing and knew where he had to run. He stayed only a few feet away from the railing. He was pushing the dirt behind him and with his massive hooves pounding into the Earth's soil with every stride he drove. Passing through the wire the colt slowed himself with a nice prance again as if he was happy to be finished.
Lawrence praised the animal below him and clicked his tongue to move the animal back to the stables. The last week of August was here and he would be ready to take the challenge of the opponent. King only had a certain time to gain his prime and Lawrence would hopefully take him there with a flood of flowers on his back.
