[attr="class","landfill-scroll"]KC Racing is new to the breeding scene, having only officially] opened its doors late August of last year. We've come a long way in such a short span of time by acquiring many well bred horses and even a couple of promising prospects. We've had the pleasure of acquiring a few mares for our breeding roster, and why it has yet to rival that of the breeding rosters and programs of the elite stables, it's a start nonetheless.
Last year we acquired MARDI GRAS as a Grade Four filly and she ran under our silks into the G3 races. Unfortunately, the filly suffered from a hairline fracture that costed her this year's Spring Cup G3 Turf. While she eventually recovered from her injury, we feared putting her back on the tracks after that. The monstrous black filly had just started her fifth year this year and she has had a very good career which led us to putting her into early retirement. She will get a year off before being bred to TOP ADMIRAL of Intrepid Racing next spring.
Another new addition to our breeding roster this year is the multiple Triple Tiara leg winner, SILVERIANNA. Titled Year Eleven's Best 3 Year Old Filly will not be bred this year. This mare has yet to have any foals but she will be bred to FURIOUS PASSION next year.
To switch topics away from our mares that are sitting this breeding season out, we'll take a look at another of the broodmares we acquired this spring. CUTE ITALIAN has a good record of being a good mother to her foals and throwing highly successful foals, which you'll find in Baciami and Italian Ice. For her first year with us she's been bred to IN FRONT and now in June it has been confirmed that she is in fact in foal. KC Racing is actually banking on the loudly colored mare passing her color onto her foal, this pairing will result in a palomino sabino colt named Figurati.
Home bred KC Racing broodmares OUI OUI MERCI FORGETTABOUTIT and TRICKY CAT have all been confirmed to be in foal this year as well. These three mares are freshman broodmares and are now expecting their first foals this year. OUI OUI MERCI is expecting a foal by FOOLISH LAD, which will result in a turf classic distance bay filly named Foolish Lass. FORGETTABOUTIT was bred to DREAMING OF GLORY and will result in a nice dirt classic distance chestnut filly named Jersey Glory. Lastly, TRICKY CAT is in foal to SPEED RUSH and will result in the only turf sprinter for us this year, an energetic dark bay colt named Speedy Tomcat. Our high money earner mare, POINT AWAY, was acquired from a sale earlier this year as well. She has been confirmed in foal to OPTIMUS UNSTOPPABLE for a nice dirt miler bay colt by the name of Optimus Prime.
