Daring To Impress
Andrew Martin and Dare to Impress
Imp had something of a fight left in her, and Andrew was determined to make that side of her come out. So they dropped her in class, against her own stable mate Passion Heart, also one of Andrew’s mounts and he wouldn’t be riding Dare To Impress in the race, Alex would.
Imp should be able to win the race, Passion Heart was G4, and wasn’t nearly as battle tested proven as Imp. However, Passion Heart was on a bit of a peaking point, the black mare had finally started picking herself up. With how things had been going, Imp was going to have a bit of a fight on her hooves, but Andrew knew she could beat Passion Heart.
The filly ducked her head and nipped at passing by horses, and Andrew would scold her, but that wouldn’t stop her from doing it again. She burst off at a full out gallop to mess around with other horses and Andrew would pull her to a stop and have to apologize then everyone would recognize who the filly was.
“Come on,” he growled at Imp and they loaded into the gate, she fired out so quickly when they opened that she nearly threw Andrew off. Fire shown in her eyes, and the filly ate up ground beneath her. She wasn’t taking no for an answer today, all of her losses seemed to turn her ice cold and every time they neared another horse she would run as hard as she could to run past them.
Rounding the final turn into the homestretch Imp exploded from Andrews hands and was in full flight down to the wire. Imp left a load of horses in her wake. Loose turf flew off behind her heels as she dug into the turf to increase her speed. Her black coat was nothing more than a blur as she passed the wire.
Andrew was sure Imp was going to give the hobnob stakes everything she had.
