RULER'S SECRET Jockeyed by Lawrence Kaine
Great Expectations Derby Workout - Feb Wk1
Ruler's Secret was the oldest racer for Nature Blues and while his record wasn't great he was still a fine horse to look at. Lawrence Kaine held a bond with him and walking up to him Lawrence rubbed his cheek and nose kindly to greet him. "Good evening Ru. How about a nice work today." He said walking the stallion out onto the turf tracks. Ruler's Secret was doing okay and while he would race this season Lawrence was thinking of either retiring him next year or going one more year. He was only 5 years old and yes it was nearly time for the stallion to retire he was still in good shape. Ruler was a sweet boy and he enjoyed racing.
Lawrence trotted Ruler out as the stallion was maturing well as he was entered in the Great Expectations Derby he would up against GM Halloween Town, Mardi Gras, and National Treasure. These horses were in the age distance of Ruler's Secret and while he was a G5 stallion this race was unpredictable. Trotting the stallion foe the start was normal he hadn't had the workout in awhile so this would be easy for him and it was needed. After he got the feel again Ru took off in an incredible speed as the front runner as he was he always broke off ahead to get ahead of everyone. The black stallion hadn't had a 2 year old career because of an injury that prevented him from racing.
Lawrence galloped the stallion at normal speed until he came to the back stretch to approach as Ru sped up even more. The Stallion knew exactly what to do and pulled towards the middle of the track. The shiny black stallion was no longer shiny covered in grass he was certainly romping the grass down a bit as he ran over it. He shredded the grassy plain with his shoes and with each furlong Ruler went faster and faster. Turning the last corner made Ru take another stride to another gear. "Good boy Ru, one last gear boy towards the finish lets go." Lawrence said as Ru listened. Using the saved up energy and sped up his last gear and sped off towards the wire.
Ruler's Secret was a G5 racer with one more win he would at least make it to G4. He would produce future turf racers which could be swell for Triple Turf Crowners and possibly Turf Sprinters. Passing the wire with his tail risen Ru pranced off the track dancing towards his pretend win for this workout. Ruler was hyped up and as he went to get cleaning the horse swung his head around with an child like canter. "Easy there boy. Your gonna be fine. Let's save this high strung energy for the race." He said then taking him back to the stalls to eat his hay and sleep for the race day.
