Seeking Stardom & Nick Landing
Nick and Ice made their way down the trails. The grey filly was like a rock as she confidently found her footing on the trails. She had redeemed herself in her last race, but Nick knew Ice had better results in her. She was a rare breed, Ice was, both in personality and bloodlines and talent. Nick had been racing her lightly, waiting for the quirky filly to develop more fully. She was looking and feeling so good.
Nick guided the filly down the trail and she was like a dream to ride.
The grey filly had a look of regalia about her. Ice was on the taller end at 16.3 hh, but she never seemed to have any issues handling her long legs and sleek frame. Her distant attitude was by the minute seeming less and less frigid. Nick smiled. She was coming off of a good rest from her third place and Nick just had a sense that Ice was about to break out and soon.
The sun was coming over the ridge and the Nick watched a pair of blue jays playing in the morning dawn. The trails were empty and to be honest, Nick was grateful for the change of scenery from the race track.
Nick urged the filly to up her pace as they moved up on an incline. This was definitely going to be a good conditioning exercise for the filly.
As they climbed up the hill, Nick paused atop before urging Ice to canter down. The grey filly pulled her head up at the thrill, she too was clearly enjoying the new environment and terrain. Pressing her on as the ground leveled out, Nick looked ahead, carefully ensuring that the prized race horse didn't injure herself on their little adventure.
Nick felt the filly's motion, she was running smooth, confident and with moderated power. Her racing career, thus far had been disappointing, but Nick knew that the blame laid with him. Ice loved racing, loved running and was purely bred for the tracks. With all of the juvenile hullabaloo settling down, he was able to redirect more of his attention to the filly. The time had come to be intentional and it all began now.
The man and filly moved in one rhythm and in sync. He got a feel for her spicy flavor and she grew even more trusting and confident in Nick's ability. The pair ran the trail strong and true and at a good clip. Nick couldn't have been more pleased with Ice's performance and their connection. Yes, he had a good feeling about this filly a good feeling indeed.
